guys and how do you level the enchantress?

switch to Enchant when you get the sundy? the Demon Machine? that xbow at lvl 27? or as soon as lvl 18?

what to use till Enchant and how to deal with immunities? Fireball? lightning? blizz? dual build? freestyle?
You can use Raven Claw for explosive arrows at level 15 (better option than Hellcast at level 27 because it’s faster).

I’ve never actually leveled with Enchant (I usually just level as something else and respec at level 75 or so), so I’m not sure how well it’s going to work, but if (A) you get yourself a Raven Claw, (B) make sure to level Warmth before level 18, and (C) shop for a 2os +3 Enchant staff from Drognan in advance (best to do at level 17 or lower because then all Enchant staffs are red on the vendor screen) to make a Leaf to have on swap, it should be fine?

Only problem is that once you get to nightmare you’ll start seeing fire immunes - not a lot but still. There are some Skeleton Magi in Act 2 already that are fire immunes, but you can largely just skip those ( Teleport past them). More importantly, Doom Knights in Act 4 are fire immune on nightmare which will make Chaos Sanctuary a… nightmare (sorry had to 😛). You’ll need an alternative way of killing them, like a well equipped merc. Act 5 nightmare is mostly fine though - but you’ll have a lot of trouble on Hell without a sunder. You can certainly level up on nightmare TZs until level 75 (enough for a sunder) before you start Hell; assuming you have one ready to use I mean. Make sure it’s a sunder with -res on it, and ideally you’d have a Flickering Flame by then too for some more -res.

But as @vued said, it’s probably better to level as something else and respec to Enchant later, unless you’re dead set on leveling with Enchant.

thanks guys. 101 poison dmg over 2 sec will get me to lvl 10 or so. and then freestyle it is :)

now i'm torn whetehr to keep leveling blizzard with this beauty or to switch to Enchant with full cow king + double Death seat?

it's easy to get carried away with blizz and forget about Enchant altogether, especially with a perfect 30% ED Death fathom in the stash..

Why not both? (I mean, just make another char)
You can also try out enchantress first and see how you like her. I did not. 11frames attack feels slow, tele speed also suffered from lack of fcr. I like Fireball much more: similar damage, faster play style.

Playing HC SSF right now.

sorry why Leaf? Warmth level is saved at the moment of casting?

To cast Enchant with a higher level. I.e. not for Warmth (synergies don’t take soft points into account anyway), just for Enchant itself. With a +3 Enchant staff base, you’ll get total +6 since Leaf has +3 to Fire Skills.

Swap to Leaf, cast Enchant, swap back to Raven Claw (or whatever you’re using).

come on you don't expect me to level three sorcs to 99???

So I leveled blizz through hell. was mostly pleasurable, only skipped a few areas (well act V was ouch). and as soon as 75 was reached, finished the ancients and Baal smoothly

pretty sure wouldn't have been possible within a reasonable timeframe with enchantress. so to blizz credit, it's probably the best build for leveling

so far I enjoy the endgame Fireball + Hydra much more than blizz (although blizz is excellently geared too). enchantress will be a little different than fireballer for me - no hydras for standoff, more survivability through better Energy Shield. a more direct approach. will respec the blizz & compare

@ShadowHeart

ah, I see. I went with Memory :)

P.S. blizz dps is maxed at 75. I have around 12k per hit with very good gear and no skillers. absolute max would be around 16k I assume?
P.P.S. after blizz dps is maxed, just pump points into Telekinesis and then Energy Shield?

Of course, if you’re level 37+ then Memory is better. The point with Leaf was that you could make it as early as Act 2 Normal on your playthrough, as it only requires level 19. I.e., a temp until you can make Memory. The suggestion was for if you were playing as Enchant to get through the game. I first mentioned Leaf in the post where I gave tips specifically for playing through the game with Enchant. It’s useless advice if you’re already in Hell and/or you decided to go with a different spec.

ignore the question. i LOVE the enchantress. forget Tal Rasha or coh, just wear Enigma. run speed is great with double horazon, Teleport speed is great, attack speed is great. Diadem is great (well will replace it with Tiara in time). no way I'm going back to that horned binface (as perfect the roll it was..)

Lightning Strike zon has to kill some more talics now :D

Fire Mastery and +FSD% on gear are applied on both the cast of Enchant, and on each attack again. Hence why people say that Enchant double-dips into Fire Mastery (for your own attacks in melee and with ranged weapons).

-res% only applies at attack time, when calculating the target's effective resistance to determine the final damage done.

that explains why my attacks are ~5x stronger than the rogue's..

and the tooltip shows 16k dmg, is it true value or is 80k or is 32k true value or what is true?

also i feel the explosion radius of the Bolts is larger than of the Fireball.. but maybe it's the Pierce effect

The character screen's attack damage includes the double-dip effect. Just compare what it says on the Enchant skill tooltip with what it says on the character screen.

It is, by 25% - Exploding Arrow has a 3 1/3 radius, and Fireball has a 2 2/3 radius.

What is the current best setup enchantress? is she still top tier?

I'm thinking..

Flickering Flame
Demon Machine with uber jewel (or Phoenix for boss killing?)
double horazon's
arachnid's mesh
double soj (or one ravenfrost for attack rating?)
3 fire skiller amulet?

rogue with Faith, coh, and Andariel's Visage
Enigma / Chains of Honor

prebuffing Enchant can be maxed to 55 (57 with skill shrine) if i'm not mistaken

will she be immortal vs bosses with max Energy Shield, Telekinesis and 14% mana steal on Phoenix?
Flickering Flame is pretty much obsoleted by Hellwarden's Will (socketed with fire facet or ancient Stone). Presuming max -fireres rolls for all relevant gear, Hellwarden's comes with both 20IAS (capping Demon Machine speed) and 20FCR sprinkled on top; with a socketed ancient Stone, that's -23% fireres (FF caps at -15%). FF users can throw the Stone in the DM itself, but then you need to find 10IAS somewhere else to Cap your attack speed; meanwhile, Hellwarden users can slap a facet in the xbow for -28% (which FF can't touch), and they still have the rest of their gear free. And if you're running an Energy Shield build (which you should) then FF's Resist Fire aura is mostly wasted.

Other things:
- Magefist+Ravenfrost+Sandstorm over Horazon's gloves+ Boots+SOJ (you don't need the IAS from Horazon gloves if you have Hellwarden, you do want the Dex+AR from Ravenfrost, and Sandstorm does a lot to cover the one resist you actually need on ES)
- I prefer Mara's for the bonus to CTA but +3 fire amulet is slightly more DPS
- No point in Act1 Faith merc, since your attack speed is already capped and very little of your damage is physical; Act2 merc with Blessed Aim/ Prayer/ Holy Freeze (depending on how much safety you want), Cure Helm, and Infinity+CoH if you have the funds, or Reaper's Toll+Treachery if you dont
- Armor DPS order is probably 1) 4 faceted whatever 2) Dragon 3) 15fire Ormus+facet, but honestly I just end up running Skullder's most of the time because you don't need resists and it's more MF than Enigma
- Mana steal is almost irrelevant because it's a % of physical damage; Insight merc would give max survivability, but anything that's a threat to a capped ES sorc can instantly dispatch a merc, so...
7
disagree on hellwarden. uber jewel goes into the xbow, so correct comparison is hellwarden with facet, -13 res/1 sk (7+5 efd) vs ff -15 res/3 fire sk (21 efd).

ias you don't need since double horazon's is bis imo (ias, frw, cbf, str, dex, fire dmg, attack rating)

fcr you don't need since you wear Arachnid Mesh and either Teleport with 11 fps or discipline yourself and Teleport on swap with 10 fps

+mana is a huge help on ff, Resist Fire helps you and merc. poison length reduction is also a big help

Raven Frost you don't need because of the horazon's, one more soj

with armor still undecided.. Enigma is nice, poison res is a weakness. so maybe coh

maybe skullder, maybe Arkaine's Valor, maybe a 4 socketed blue armor. Dragon is an interesting idea, will give it a try (need it for pally anyway)

i know a2 or a5 merc would be better, i'm just stubborn :)

currently use rogue with Insight

on side note - i think Snowclash and Chilling Armor should be mandatory for every sorc prebuffing routine. realization came after dying to Uber Izual :D

Full comparison must include IAS from hellwarden. So either you put a Shael in Demon Machine (which makes DM+FF -15 fireres and DM+HW -28 fireres) or you include gloves+ Boots+ring for IAS+CBF, which makes DM+FF+SOJ+horazon gloves/ Boots -25 fireres, +4 Fire Mastery, and about 200 fire damage, vs. DM+HW+RF+ Magefist+Sandstorm, which gives you -28 fireres (and +5% fire damage from the extra facet), +2 Fire Mastery, 70PR, and 40FCR. (Swapping belts to Arachnid from Razortail is a huge damage loss if you're not fighting single target) And if you don't really care about the 70 poison res, you have a bunch of options: War Travs for MF, Silkweaves for bigger ES pool, Gores for CB+OW on heralds, Marrowwalk for Bone Prison, etc. With Horazon you're locked in to both slots and have zero flex.
+mana is a huge help on ff, Resist Fire helps you and merc. poison length reduction is also a big help
If you care about poison (and you should), poison length reduction from FF isn't going to be nearly as impactful as PR+70 from Sandstorm. Merc should already be capped on fire res without the aura.
on side note - i think Snowclash and Chilling Armor should be mandatory for every sorc prebuffing routine. realization came after dying to Uber Izual :D
I prefer Frozen to Chilling, so I just 1-point-wonder it and move on.
Enchantress prebuff is long enough already, lol

okay but then it's 16k explosion (100% hit chance) + 16k hit (~75% hit chance vs a Herald or Baal) = 28k @ 11 fps = 64k dps

which is almost the same with Fireball in a comparable layout, 21k @ 8fps = 65k dps. Hydra doubles that of course

correct?

The character screen's attack damage includes the double-dip effect. Just compare what it says on the Enchant skill tooltip with what it says on the character screen.

+1 for Magefist + Ravenfrost + Razortail + Sandstorms from me. Not sure about Hellwarden though, have neither tried that nor did I do the maths.

Viperskin is also a valid option for armor btw.

Dragon armor does not make sense IMHO. The fire damage from aura only adds to single hits and even with FM it's not much.

* edited, included Magefist on the hellwarden.. side

why do you include Shael in the Flickering Flame build? attack speed is maxed thanks to the horazon's. so ceteris paribus it's
+1 all sk (with extra soj) and +3 fire sk, -15 res, 200 fire dmg, and a lot of str/dex, frw, a lot more mana, 50% poison length reduction, fire resist aura, huge mdr and awesome looks

vs

+1sk, +1 fire sk, +5% fire dmg, -13% fire res, 40% fcr and more attack rating, and free Boots slot for poison res or whatever, and ugly looks

choice is obvious for me

personally don't see need for Razortail, 95% dies on first explosion, 66% Pierce is enough imo
