I'm leveling up a paladin so I can kill Uber Tristram and uber ancients. I can tackle dclone easily with my lightning sorc, but for the others I need a better char

so my goal now is to be able to do ubers

aside from this, I'd like to drop a soj one of these days

I honestly never thought about this.

Faced with the question, the only thing that really comes to mind is having my two main characters (Bone necro, Fury druid) at 99 and geared as highly as I can get while not breaking SSF* play. My other characters I don't mind having under geared, but I'd love to have those two on a pretty ridiculous level.

Necro is at 95, druid at 93. Both are pretty well geared, but there's still some room for improvement, especially in charms. Necro even has double SoJs, after finding my first SoJ ever a year ago, then two more.

*SSF - In my case, I do trade for what I see as "consumables": runes, gems, and keys/statues. Everything else is self found, including bases.
