Horadric Cube 2.0

I’m sure this one must have been threaded before now but.. what would be a way to open up the functionality of the cube whilst not terribly unbalancing the game?

Not just or even mainly talking about new cubing recipes, but say QoL changes like the ability to convert it to a Horadric Tube, a 1x4 item to take up those 1x1 spaces above your skillers?

Or to customise the colour of it by making it take the appearance of the last gem colour (or armor??) that it cubed? So it could look like it has a chainmail skin or have the weird cris cross Pattern of the duskshroud?

Or a rainbow hue (facets)? Or a Red

Ruby (Horadric Rube?!). Maybe this then Increases the chance of health related bonuses (lifeleach) occurring with the next few recipes being used??

Or maybe secondary function, that switches it from a recipe cubing box to a storage mode - like a Tardis (for you Dr Who fans) or a Bag of Holding (for you Dungeons and Dragons folk)? It effectively doubles the size of your on person inventory (not the stash), to allow you to pick up more during farming runs - but drawback is that it cannot cube anything whilst expanded?

Or a third function - shrine mode - like a recipe - but if you say cube 9 poison potions and a Healing plus rejuvenate, your cube turns into a single use Poison resistance shrine?
