It’s gotten worse by the day this week randomly
Even now crashing when I come back into a portal losing all my progress before I got the next way point
Frustrating doesn’t do it justice
And once it gets like that I’ll have to reboot the pc because then it won’t even let me get back into a game just crashes on the lod screen 7 times in a row

What's the ambient temperature when you play?
I mean the game has its issues. The game engine alone is absolutely horrible and has issues which cant be fixed.
For example too many objects & particles in screen will cause the game to just close itself. No crash, no error message or anything. It just closes the game. Why? because the engine cant handle all the particles.
"Lower your settings"
No this is not a fix for it, it makes no difference. I did a lot of testing with this and no matter your settings; it always happens.
Weirdest thing is that to some it never happens, to some it happens very easily.
Personally cannot kill Shenk in act5 and look at the bombardment as it closes my game instantly. Its idiotic they have no fix to it other than rework a new engine for the game.
Never experienced random crashing otherwise, but the game is absolutely horribly coded.

I had similar issues with random crashes a while ago, very frustrating losing all progress when it happened.

Similar issue to me but not completely same, my issue was the game crashed when I EXIT the game, can you believe that? It didn't go back to battle.net app, but instead it crashed and pop the report window. I did everything I could, nothing worked at the time. Later on the issue just disappeared. Your "GeForce GTX 660" just meets the required minimum to run d2r. If your game image settings are too high the card won't be able to maintain an adequate framerate. set the resolution to 720P. Also check the drive your game is installed on to see how much remaining space, it should have about 20%, anything less can increase loading time, and free space is also required for the game to be able to write back to your drive. We all know D2r has its own issues that can be annoying on their own, but those issues can be worsened by our hardware.
