this might be a stupid question but I have yet to do one and was wondering how much better the drops are in those 3 portals. What significant drops have you guys found in there?

Uber Tristram, you find nothing except the

Hellfire Torch. The mini ubers also don't drop anything apart from their organs. So, these are not good areas to farm items.

I thought the areas leading up to the end bosses had mobs/elites to kill that could potentially drop higher treasure classes

They can drop stuff but I've never gotten anything more than vendor trash from the mobs

I've gotten a

Vex in the

Matron's Den, but I wouldn't go there specificaly to farm items/runes

NOT PLAYING MUCH LATELY; ON MY MINECRAFT/MELEE GRIND
You can always make alternative offers with Keys.

The

Matron's Den, although not an ideal farming location, can sometimes be surprising. In one run I had a

Jah drop just from moving the lid on a tomb and I know some others have also reported high rune drops in the Den. A lot of people choose to dash through the Den using an Enigma, and to be fair I used one for a while as well, but now I find it to be one of the more fun paladin

Smite fights in the game, so no more Enigma for me, but I get why some might choose to use one.

My paladin doesn't wear an Enigma and I've never found anything interesting in those levels. Could be my luck, since I found FOUR barb torches in a row (followed by a 10/10 druid torch)

it usually takes 10 run to get 1 very valuable torch. It is okay. 1 warlock torch can recover everything.
