sorc 99 leveling

I just have done a javazon 99 leveling, see this post

I want to do the same for my lightning sorc, SCNL, 1p solo game only. The goal is again to level to 99, and farm sunder charms along the way from the heralds (other drops from whatever mob do not seem impressive in any case).

Main question: lightning vs.

Nova ES. Secondary question: 200 fcr worth it?

The main concern with

Nova ES is (1) mana burn:

Willowisp (or

Wraith) can drain mana instantly, resulting in instant kill. Dying isn't an option here for the purpose (2)

Nova is generally not as good as lightning when fighting bosses (including whatever heralds). For the purpose of sunder farming, this is also not ideal.

For these considerations, I am leaning towards lightning. Ideally I would like to have a JMOD or some jeweler's armor of the whale (I have the facets). I have some high runes and some rare items (but not to the level of 25 Jahs...) If you suggestions, please let me know.

If I were to hold Spirit shield, then I would like to have suggestions on 200 fcr sorc. I used to use this build to farm keys and sniping bosses, which worked very well. I am not sure if this is good for the current purposes.

I admit that self-wielding Infinity is superior almost in any case for

Nova, but I am trying to compare 200 fcr lightning vs 105 fcr Infinity

Nova.

for 1p solo game

Nova can't be beat for density farming and heralds, even

Uber Tristram and Uber ancients are easy with geared

Nova ES sorc. lightning would be better for boss farming though especially on higher player counts, but still easy with

Nova imo

Keep in mind that the breakpoints are different for Lightning (and

Chain Lightning), due to the slightly slower cast animation: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=2450747

It looks like 194 is max for Lightning, which helps your case a bit.

Thanks for the advice. 200 fcr is just for teleporting, which is significantly faster than 105 fcr teleporting.

Ah of course! Yeah I realize that will be the limiting factor in this case, didn't think of that first.

Whichever is more fun to you.

They can both deal with anything just fine but as you know, getting to 99 solo will take a while so just go with whichever doesn't drive you nuts and is more entertaining along the way.
