Description

Despite the ED / min-max damage bug, is it worth putting a
Protector's Stone
into an
Arreat's Face
?

I'm wondering if it's worth it compared to my a current ED/IAS jewel I have on it.

Frenzy
/WW barb running 65% IAS gear total with it. but I will have only 50% IAS without the current jewel. Not sure if this is in my head, but it seems like there a slightly faster attack speed ramping up
Frenzy
without the buff.

Using a 30% IAS Grief + 60% EBOTD CB offhand.

Will the - physical resistance give more damage than my current 30% ED jewel on arreats? I see the benefits of having the
Fade
break will be handy vs some strong packs of heralds. Some extra MF isn't bad either.

Can be used to make Runewords:

Well

Knowing one can easily farmed the jewel now after the patch, i say just use it and enjoy :)

Unless the jewel is near perfect, if thats the case, sell it off or use it on better gears?

Can trade on PC or SWITCH

The short answer is yes, absolutely.

I don't know your specific build or gear, but the basic Principle is the more off-weapon ED you have the less impact adding more off-weapon ED has. It's not uncommon to have something like +1000% ED off-weapon from skills, gear, and auras. If you add another 30%, you're going up to +1030%, so from +10x to +10.3x. That's 3% more damage. This value might change if that ED jewel also has IAS, since new breakpoints can boost DPS by huge amounts though again depends on specifics.

Compare that to -resist. The worst roll for that jewel is -5%. Against a monster with 0% resist, you are immediately gaining 5% damage. If the monster has positive physical resist (which many do), the effect goes higher. For example, a 50% phys res monster drops to 45%. You go from dealing 50% damage to 55%, which is 10% more damage, relatively speaking. Against the highest possible phys res of 95% on a sundered immune, you would go from dealing 5% to 10% which +100% damage against them. Where -phys res starts to fall off is against monsters with very, very low phys resist... primarily ones near 0% normally that are also under the effect of Amp Damage or Decrep. I imagine that specific scenario is far more rare for you than the alternative.

yea it's an ED/IAS jewel.

Good explanation thanks

I think this jewel should be changed to something like 5% chance to cast amp damage, 15 or 25 ias, -10 physical. This will give all melee builds a huge buff
7
Fade
alone give melee characters huge buff by providing resist and greatly reducing curses and poison. You spend less time being under
Decrepify
Amplify or
Lower Resist
.
And if you have
Ist
rune somewhere Stone is awesome replacement.
