On the "Perfect roll" tag

Ugh, not this shit again. Once again, just like everything else in D2 and life. Its up to a person's definition of perfect. Functionally perfect, aesthetically perfect, literally perfect, etc.

If I'm looking for a perfect CTA, IDGAF about the ed or warcry roll. I will continue to and unabashedly use the perfect tag for both literally and functionally perfect items.

On a separate and definitely unrelated note: I really wish there was a way to hide entire forum topics.

I might be wrong but when you create a listing to sell or buy, you select the said item through the search, ei astreon and click on the astreon, user then can also type in some texts on the same headline as the astreon ei: astreon perfect ed and 85 dmg roll

And when others search for astreon, yours should be populated in the listing…i believe done this a few times on some items i sell and it shows up on the listing when i search for the said item

When you do this, the item no longer shows in the list of items available for to on the item page. For your example, I would not see your listing on the

Astreon's Iron Ward. So you exclude the people who don't search for an item but only look via the item pages.

Nearly Perfect tag would be great because I feel corny using Perfect if it isn't 100% perfect, but at the same time, if it's just some minor stat that most people don't care about that didn't roll perfect, I'd like to be able to use some sort of tag.

You know what'd be better than a perfect/near perfect tag?

Stat search.

Much as I dislike Traderie overall (starting with the fact that you can't even sign up because they don't know what a valid email looks like...), they did get the search part right. Being able to specify min and max values for every single stat on the item doesn't just make searches in general a lot better but it also solves the "perfect, close to perfect, nowhere near, ..." issue as you simply put in the perfect values as the min for whichever stats you consider "sufficient to call it perfect".

Needless to say though that'd also be quite a bit of work for Teebs.
But hey, @Teebling, if you ever get truly bored...

A simple "perfect" tag plus "near perfect" tag on the other hand really won't work reliably and I for one wouldn't even know how to moderate it as the definition for perfect really does depend on the person.
E.g. if every "rolled extra stat" is perfect but the base defense isn't, is that perfect or not? Ask 3 people and you'll get 3 different answers. Even more so for non-elite items where base def wouldn't matter when upgrading but rolls do. But not everyone upgrades. So..ya know..pure Chaos and endless debate guaranteed.

So i just did a test with a listing for
:

Breath of the Dying

I selected Breath of the Dying on the search to sell, then typed additional info 403%ed 15LL and submit the post for sell

Then did a search for Breath of the Dying, the current active listing doesnt seem to show my recently created ebotd,

However, if i click on the “view all listing” button, i do see my Breath of the Dying listing from the ‘view all listing’ list

Yes - clicking "see all listings" does a trade search for the item name. So any item with that name + specifics will still show up. It just does not show in the small window on the specific item page.

So i guess that solves the semi perf scenario in which one can use to specify important of certain stat value on their listing without resulting into using perf tag

But yeah if it shows up on small window after the search, that would be even better, maybe teebling can remedy that easily?

100% perf items should have their own tag, otherwise, like someone said up, u wont find them in mass of "partly perfect" items.

I feel like this would really negatively impact discoverability. I never find there to be enough of really any item tagged as perfect to make it an actual issue to search amongst them for a 100% item

Sorry to derail the topic a little, and i'm sure you've been asked b4, but have u ever considered open-sourcing/crowd-sourcing the development of parts of the site, like for a new search function? I'm sure there are many here who would be willing to contribute to something like that, myself included

If my calculations (see below) are correct, this is a completely below average roll!
Not even the most important stat imo -EPR is max.
I think the tag should only be used for perfectly rolled items.
Every time I look at an offer like that, only to find out it’s not perfect, it wastes my time and is annoying.
In cases like this, I’d appreciate a “Dislike” button or a “-1-Trust” rating.

Odds of rolling selected values or higher in total is 61,354%
1/21= 4.76%
2/6= 83.33%
1/3= 100%
10/21= 61.54%
11/26= 57.14%

It isn't about odds so much as it is about overall quality and importance of individual stats.

E.g. if you have say a lvl 20 conc Pride, flagging that with the current ("close to") perfect tag would be fine pretty much regardless of the AR roll as conc is the vastly more important piece of it and typically the only thing folks care about. Much like for griffon's, most only care about dmg and -res and noone but collectors worries about def.

If the item overall is very close to perfect and/or the critical stats are perfect, you're perfectly justified in using the tag.
If however the item has say 5 different rolling stats, 2-3 of which are generally considered equally important and only 1 of them is a perfect roll while the other two are average at best, then it should not be flagged as perfect. And that is certainly the case here I would say since for most use cases, ED is actually irrelevant (as it is bugged for any non-weapon use) while -res is generally the most important piece of it (even in those cases where ED does work).

If you find an item that is flagged as perfect even though it clearly shouldn't be, simply use the report function to bring it to our attention so we can remove the tag and reach out to the seller accordingly.
