Description

Hi!

I've read a lot about people not beeing happy with the way Diablo 2 has developed in some aspects. And while I can understand some of the issues beeing criticized, it is not clear to me how much this impacts the people's overall experience.

From my point of view I can say that I love the way things turned out. Much more endgame, way better item storage, new class, new items... And a vivid community (thanks diablo2.io !!) and even some old friends came back and play from time to time.

So I'd really like to know:

D1 and D2 always will be my main games...

Since my childhood the Diablo Franchise was a huge part of my life. This games create more memories and pillar moments that my parents, influence my carreer, my life goals...make me want to be a game designer.

Fall in love with the roguelike genre thanks to D1 at that time.

The epic OST from Matt Uelmen from both games is one of my favorite songs of all times, thanks to this i discover the "Dungeon Synth" genre, i'm totally addicted...discovering new songs and albums everyday!

All hail to the kings! Long live D1 and D2!

There is one rule, above all others, for being a man. Whatever comes, face it on your feet.

Having a blast but I credit RotW for bringing me back to D2 more than feeling that it really improved the game. It's a mixed bag in my opinion, but the underlying game is still so strong that I'm just pleased to have new content.

I chose second option.

Modded my old gbc, so more zelda et al than d2r at the moment. Another reason for not playing too much is the state of RotW atm. It lacks Reallife-compability. Keeping game up for ages just to farm tier 5 heralds or being fixed on certain time frames to farm statues is by no means beneficial to family life, for example.

Fortunately, this gets fixed pretty soon afaik

Post ur offer before adding me. No PM. Only add me if u offer bin/lf. No reply after 3 days=offer rejected
No socketing service. If u get item otherwise, retract ur pending offer. Edit ur post or post "retracted" to do so.

I couldn't agree more. But since it seems they are on the right track again (they want to remove nearly all FOMO mechanics), I have chosen the first option 😉 I don't try anymore to adept my personal schedule to Boss TZs and now I am having fun again 🙂

After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

Def having a blast.

Stash/Loot filter get 2 big thumbs way up.

Lock is definitely busted at the moment, but, honestly, I think it is fine. They know it is...so just let people have their fun for the limited time it will be available in this state. I know I enjoyed rolling it as my first toon and playing up to 91. Only recently made my sorc.

Chronicle is also a nice edition. Currently 52% (unique) and 77% (set) complete; we won't talk about RW's.

Going forward...

Would like to see some sort of implementation of item dye, transmog system, or at least option to hide
Helm
; I'm lookin' at you
Harlequin Crest
.

Perhaps buffing of skills/builds that never see the light of day to teach this old dog a few more new tricks.

The RotW-expansion made me gladly come back to the game and grind again. Way better experience than D4 in my opinion, even though I've played that alot aswell.

Are there really a lot of negative comments? I feel like there's about the usual amount for new content for a game, but negative is always louder (and more likely to be voiced).

I only play softcore, non-ladder.

Community seems pretty dvided about the upcoming Warlock nerf.

Otherwise there was general discontent about the ancient statues and
Herald
spawn systems but the upcoming changes look it may reverse that at first glance.

I was starting to feel tired and disappointed at the new Sunder Charm drops and
Herald
systems, but now that they seem to be about to fix it, I feel confident saying that I'm having a blast. Getting rid of FOMO/time sensitive mechanics is always a win in my book.

Right, but that's what happens with nerfs, regardless of how justified they are. So I think that's pretty normal.
