I like melee precisely because it is not quite as OP as many casters. I don't see how RotW made it worse, though?

short answer for paladin, not too bad roll equipment setup, (your item score 0-30/100)
huge improvement, like 8 hour, you can reach perfect performance by trade exist thing into you need most.

op is complain about nothing new to melee, which I also strong agree. it may act like Dragon paladin, not very strong but playable.
unlike current exist thing, totally unplayable. too weak.

for player , who have okay Grief, and not too bad charms, this new thing is nothing.

In my guess ,Rotw performance is about raise Grief from 400 to 500 which does not create extra entertainment for melee player nor does performance.

Please be aware, all my trade is in non ladder d2r. Not warlock.

The op means new unique needed in DLC. I think so.

But the problem is that what unique? it will be very difficult. weapon it need to beat Grief. swap it need to beat cta or rotw current swap cast

I dont think on hit will help much. even if you have 100% amp weapon, it will still not good enough to equip.

Current rotw everything combine is only about 20% damage increase which is nothing. physical class either need accuracy or things to increase damage to 100% , meaning change damage from 14000 to 28000 which is hard. Before that damage, everything that increase damage is nothing or 0. If you get full setup before rotw, after rotw even you get full damage. Your performance will just exactly same before rotw when vs 1p tz , non uber. Even if new phy jewel isn't buggy, it is still no help, 0 effect. it does help people who does not have 30/100 score equip setup. For good to perfect damage setup pvm, it is nothing, like rotw never exist.

This is point of view of melee paladin. There might be different story for druid which I dont care and wont play.
First of all, you gotta try playing melee Shaper druids, you've been missing out that's your biggest problem XD

I wholeheartedly agree, I don't think it made much of a dent in improving melee. However, my biggest thing is... I'm not even saying we need to even come up with new weapons "to beat Grief in damage"- if we did, cool; if we didn't, whatever.

My main point is, where are all the new and interesting Unique (or Runeword) weapons for melee characters: Like
Azurewrath
, or
Stormlash
, or Beast, or even the obsure ctc ones like Destruction or Rift runeword spamming volcanoes ctc or Orbs, that ALLOW players just to try out new and interesting playstyles... some might end up sucking, some might be surprisingly good. WHERE ARE THEY? nowhere.

For instance, the last couple years I've been running a

Fireclaw/Windy hybrid that runs
Stormlash
, 'Rain',
Carrion Wind
/Ravenfrost, Jalals that synergizes 60 points into fire, the rest into
Hurricane
and
Twister
to ctc nados. IS IT THE GREATEST MINION KILLER BUILD OF ALL TIME?? Nope. Is it the coolest...? -.~ possibly, it just might be, you get to fling out 1200 damage nados & twisters, while shocking minions with
Stormlash
, while one-shotting with 15k fireclaw, while having perma
Hurricane
/Cyclone proc'ing. And this is just ONE build.

I could just pull out creative options out of thin air, just brainstorming high level Uniques:

1) Cadaecus: 10% ctc
Conversion
on striking

2)
Thresher
or
Mace
: has a 40% ctc
Corpse Explosion
on kill

3) Shield: 10% ctc lvl 10
Attract
when struck

4) Sword of Greed: casts lvl 5
Find Item
after each kill

5)
Helm
: +2 all skills, +5
Dragon Flight


6) 'Death's Revenge'
Javelin
: lvl 10
Conviction
aura when equipped

7) 'Undead Bow': 2% ctc lvl 40 skeletal mage per kill, +20 skeletal mastery on bow.


...again, none of these ideas are even about "LET'S TRY TO OUTDO Grief or Faith BOW", the point is to make items that'll make you think, like "hmm... I think I could make a really sweet melee build with this chance to cast/aura" or "this will stack really well with x or y item". We need to challenge people to find different ways to play the game, not just make a Grief 2.0 that gives +600 damage.
Interesting. You first want stuff for just new builds and then you come up with ideas of OP gear to make all existing obsolete. Then you don want to outdo Grief again.
Like we have not enough gear for different playstyles. Tons of gear goes into the dumpster /Charsie every day. Many for just being 1point of resist/stat lower than JP.

off hand is huge. But everyone makes Grief in

to not pay for the the repair. So devs made us a sword. Awesome! But some don't want to investigate, they just see number "150" and complain. Amplify reduces physical Resist by 100%! Making your damage triple if mob had 50% physical resist (normal in Hell)! It is far from pair Grief-Lawbringer against undead, but experience is similar.
There are already ways to improve or improvise. Lots. But if you are Min Maxing usually it is only one set of gear, one set of skills. Even same monsters to kill over and over. Players make characters for teleporting over
River of Flame
, who haven't seen anything apart it and Diablo. Or for killing council members. Each has their BIS items. They are already BIS and devs don't need to make something to overperform them.
They made new stones adding nice bonuses .
And to conclude, devs made us Chronicles. So me and you one day will make
Wraith
, Venom and Wind. And will have chance to think what to do with it.
There's nothing I've said that's contradictory, you're trying to frame this in the most bad Faith way. Yes... people can use different runewords in different bases; people sell a LOT of uniques to

Yeah I'm trying to follow your train of thought, I'm going to be honest it's difficult you're all over the place I'm not sure what your argument is. YES, 150% ED on a 2-handed sword in Hell, even with a 30% amp damage, is still trash, it just is. We're talking 200 damage versus like a BOTD

hitting for 800 with massive stat bonus and leech, like I said, it's a GREAT option through nightmare and early hell but its just like any

Also, the items I was just spit-balling (if you don't like them... let's see your ideas too), these were just ideas and I didn't list ANY stats or damage or any other mods like deadly or crushing blow, you have literally ZERO indication if it's OP or not just some interesting chance to cast spells that haven't been utilized. But are you ACTUALLY complaining over the idea of getting an influx of new Uniques or Runewords with creative mods? Like really, 25 years.. too soon to get more uniques or improve the junk like

Nobody's arguing it made it worse.... show me one single comment where I said "RoTW made melee worse than it was before" or to that extent? The point is they didn't offer almost any new unique Swords, Maces, Javelins, Polearms, etc. with any cool new chance to cast X synergies or auras, or abilities to transform or do anything cool, for the other heroes. Like I said, 90% is catered to Warlock and the rest are mostly items that cater to casters. It's just a fact.

I might argue things got significantly worse for casters. my level 90+ casters still spend most of their time running away from immunes, because sunders got effectively nixed

Having access to Lethargy as a Barb has made bossing and doing ubers better than ever. I can understand with how insanely powerful warlock is that it definitely feels that way for sure though.
