Description

Since I haven’t seen any Firelock experiences with the Uber Tristram event posted here, I’ll share mine.

Equips: Obsession, Shako, Enigma, Measured Wrath, Magefist, with rare amu, rings, and Boots. CTA and Spirit offhand. I’ve got my resistances maxed at 75%.

I’ve got a couple of skillers, but I’m nowhere near fully optimized with this build.

Hephasto Bind Demon Fanaticism aura, Stone Skin, and Cursed. Those were the Key ones. I also brought 2 Defilers in.

To be honest, I had an easier time with Diablo and Baal. Mephisto was the tough one since my merc kept dying. I had to Engorge Mephisto’s minions just to keep Hephasto alive. Took around a minute or two, but I got him. I was mostly spamming Flame Wave, Apocalypse, and Lethargy.

With Baal, I didn’t really have issues with his Chilling Armor, probably because my merc and Hephasto were right in front of me. Just kept feeding my merc Rejuvs and spamming skills.

Diablo was the easiest, he folded pretty fast. I just had to stay out of his flame attacks.

Overall, I think I survived mainly because I managed to fight them one by one. Would’ve been a lot harder if two of them stacked and rushed me at the same time.

And this is my first torch ever that I didn’t buy. So yeah, a Firelock can definitely beat Ubers. Hopefully, I’ll get a Warlock torch next time!

Thank you so much!

Why did you go with Fanaticism instead of Conviction, as the latter would have really boosted your fire damage? Was it just for the merc to have faster/more leech? I'd argue Conviction might still be more helpful, because with the high monster level of the ubers, he's probably missing a fair bit.

Rising Sun amulet would be a great choice, at least once Mephisto goes down and you don't need to overcap resists. The absorb works wonders against Diablo's fire attacks and the balrog Inferno attacks. Another great piece of gear here would be Flickering Flame; it would really help with the -EFR, the Resist Fire aura (particularly once you get a sunder), and the +skills (assuming they properly coded the fire side of the Chaos skill tree as 'fire skills'). The best benefit of it, though, is you can slap it in a Diadem, instead of running around with a green condom on your head. :)

Congratulations on the accomplishment, though. I finally got around to beating them (offline Switch) with my bladesin, and they were a lot tougher than I expected. I went in knowing I'd need massive resists (easy enough when you've got Kira's Guardian and a respectable level of Fade), but what I completely overlooked was the shit targeting on console. It's like "Yes, I know the undead are swarming me, but I'd really like to keep focus on Mephisto instead of some random Skeleton, thank you very much!" Once he went down, Baal was easy enough, though frustrating for the same reason as Mephisto, plus his stupid mana drain attack. I've done it twice so far, and got a shit Paladin torch (11/13), and a decent Necromancer one (13/20).

Yeah, I guess it was tense no matter what:)

You chose Fana-Heph for Firelock as a plan to rely on your team or is that just random cursed Heph that you binded?

EDIT: haha ninja'd:)

Not at all.

It's very soloable with a very good Bind Demon.

To be honest, I just got tired of farming a good Hephasto and I got a Cursed, Stoned Skin with Fanaticism before finding one with Conviction. I was also thinking that I won't need Conviction in the future if a get a Sundered Fire Charm anyway.

I understand what you mean with all the plus to Fire Skills, but I was going for more a Hybrid Firelock that's not pure Fire skills, balancing it out with putting points in the Demon skill tree. I'm not sure if that makes sense. Yeah, I'm condom head for now until I get that a good Diadem/ Coronet/ Circlet.

Congrats too! I don't think I have the patience to do any Assassin build right now, maybe one day in the future with a Mosaic.

You say that like it's no big deal; the drop rates on the new sunders is abysmal. The only reason I have any sunder charms is because I found them in previous seasons, both offline and online. It's one of the main things people are griping about, because it's just that bad.

There's the whole chicken-vs-egg thing going on, too. In order to farm high-tier heralds, you need lots of damage and the ability to break immunities, which usually means having a sunder charm. Even if you've got Lower Resist or Conviction, a high-tier Herald has so much life that you'll have a hard time out-damaging their regeneration if you can't bring their resists down further. This is one reason physical builds are so powerful if you have a physical sunder (I do, offline and I think non-ladder). Unlike Lower Resist and Conviction, Amplify Damage and Decrepify work at 100% (instead of 20%) effectiveness against sundered enemies.

If you're playing ladder, and are looking for a sunder, all I can do is wish you luck. You'll need a lot to either find the sunder and have it be the right type, or to find the runes/gear to trade for one.
