I love my Manic Pixie Dreamgirl on my more or less trap assassin (well, traps + full Natalya + Chaos to Whirlwind), with Delirium / Treachery / Ice.
And someone said "Hustle armor is cool for a1 merc, you should try it." And our dear Schnorki gave me one at the end of this ladder season (thanks again buddy !).
I have just tried, and I think it's indeed actually better !
- The IAS of 40 instead of 45 on a Mat Bow does not change the breakpoint.
- The res is better : 10 all is better than cold only
- The only drawback is to lose Fade, but as MPD is not hit that often I tended to not have it activated often... and not when I needed it sometimes !
- However you gain Evade (no hit, no issue), Dex (all the better for an archer!) and probably most important, huge frw. And as with her AI she spends her time repositioning, she does that much faster, allowing to avoid more hits and hit herself more often.

Faith is great in general for any a1 merc as it boosts your perf. I believe this would work as well, even with less survivability, but from my point of view it's less an MPD than a booster then. Ice is completely on the crowd control theme. BotD is less a competitor to Ice than before due to the fact that with the zon bows now available I think Ice is better suited.

I dont think you even need life leech on her with Delirium, which opens up your weapon choices.
I am using Insight in a Blade Bow with my Nova/ Hydra sorc and Delirium procs are great to distract and let me set up hydras or safely Nova.
Plus you can just Teleport to reposition her (specifically with the sorc, or Enigma, or warlock).
Another bonus with a1 merc is she sends out an arrow every time you Teleport.

I'm using her for my Dragondin build. 6 socketed Crusader Bow with 6× Shael for max frame rate attack speed, with Chains of Honor for life leech and all resists. Procs Confuse more frequently, even better after she transformed into doll.
But problem with Dragondin is survivability, using a Phase Blade to make Hand of Justice makes overall life leech feel pathetic compared to Grief. I skipped investing a Tesladin build because self wield Infinity Nova sorc melts mobs way faster and is an excellent choice for TZ boss runs.
