I have a lot of other shards, but no Northern Worldstone Shard. Where is the best place to get them? Am I doing smth wrong?
Can be used to make Runewords:

I thought you have to farm the shards in the said act you want to terrorize with the shard.
As in Northern worldstone shards are found in act5, at least thats where ive gotten two.
Ofc I could be completely wrong and it could be just randomized and luck based. But so far all my shard drops have been in the related act.

I thought so too, but then I got a bunch of different shards from Tombs in Act 2. So it's not particularly related to the Act. However, chances might be increased...
Source and full explanation: https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo2/commen ... cs_sunder/The only way to target farm Northern Shard drop is to farm nonTZ Catacombs and Jail. With the current Shard drop ratio, you can Terrorize Act 1 five times more often than Act 5. Something to keep in mind when planning to Terrorize the whole game. If you are spending all your time hunting for Heralds in Terror Zones, you will still be getting Shards in this ratio. If you clear the whole TZ game 10 times over, your will have 28 - Act 1 shards, 16.8 - Act 2 shards, 11.2 - Act 3 shards, 11.2 - Act 4 shards, and 5.6 - Act 5 shards

That would indicate that its just a random drop. Doesnt matter which act you are; you can drop any of the shards and its completely rng.TagTagovich wrote: 2 hours agoI thought so too, but then I got a bunch of different shards from Tombs in Act 2. Makes it a lot harder to farm specific shards which kind of sucks
EDIT:
I dont believe in those numbers provided above. That many shards for terrorizing the acts? nah.

The numbers are based directly on the loot tables in the internal game files, they don't come out of thin air. Ofc, RNG can and will still troll you hard.Semirotta wrote: 2 hours agoI dont believe in those numbers provided above. That many shards for terrorizing the acts? nah.
Anyway, if you read more carefully, it says if you terrorize the whole game 10 times - that requires using 50 shards. By clearing the game 10 times, you will have a net positive of +23 shards. A rough x1.5 return on investment. Use 50, get 73 back, net positive +23. But more importantly, I think Pavke accidentally left out the part that the numbers in that sentence are based on /players 7. Numbers are obviously way worse on lower player counts. Using the same math, on /players 1, using 50 shards to terrorize the entire game 10 times will yield 18 shards, a net loss of 32 shards. The only two acts that roughly "break even" in terms of shard drops when fully terrorized are Acts 1 & 2 (they have the most number of elite monsters on average), and they only do so on /players 3+. Act 4 is the worst (due to the small size and thus low number of elite monsters), terrorizing it is a net shard loss even on /players 7.

While reading this sentence, emphasis should be put on the words *TARGET farm*. Yeah, if you REALLY want Northern Shards, you better farm non-TZ Jail and Catacombs. NON TZ!oOKIWIOo wrote: 2 hours agoThe only way to target farm Northern Shard drop is to farm nonTZ Catacombs and Jail.
That said, what should be clear from Pavke's impeccable post on Reddit is: if most of what you play is Terror Zones with a level 80+ character, shards will drop with probabilities mostly skewed towards Act 1 and Act 2 (probabilities 5/13 and 3/13, respectively), and least probable of all is Act 5 (probability 1/13). Doesn't matter WHERE you're farming: if it's TZ and lvl about 80+, any monster that can drop shards can drop all five shards, but those are their relative probabilities -- heavily skewed towards Western Worldstone Shard (Act 1), as seen above.
Yes, and I can confirm this with the overall droprates of my 90+ Chars (I play mostly TZ or Chaos or Worldstone Keep)tadkarcz wrote: 46 minutes agoWhile reading this sentence, emphasis should be put on the words *TARGET farm*.
