[Feature Suggestion] Wishlist/Trade Monitoring

Description

Perhaps this is already a feature that I'm unaware of, but it would be extremely handy to be able to monitor for and be alerted when new trades are posted for items.

For example lets say I was hunting for a near perfectly rolled
Gheed's Fortune
. Searching for Ladder softcore on PC shows me all of the current trades, but none of them have the rolls I'm looking for. Being able to monitor that item/criteria and get a notification when new trades for it are posted would be fantastic.
Once you monitor a trade it would be added to a section/option in your profile where you can view/remove them once you're done looking for them.

I've just recently started using the site for trading and I tend to find myself searching for the same items I'm looking for every once in a while to see if there's any new trades up. I thought this would be helpful/useful to me and perhaps others to avoid going through each item I'm looking for individually.

If this is already something I can do using the features available definitely let me know!

I've thought about that too over the years of being here and I've bounced back and forth on it. Personally I do not support that feature. There are a fairly large number of people who are on this site trading all the time. Lets call them 'hawks' and they swipe good deals or other sought after items faster than most casual users do.
Enabling a notification system would remove the excitement of finding a trade before anyone else, and it would make these 'hawks' even more efficient.
But I'm not the boss so it would be up to Teebling to make that final call.

I can trade DLC or non-DLC on both PC or xbox.

All my
Blood Ring
and
Caster Amulet
priced at
Ist
or below are now FREE.

That's a good point! I can definitely see serious traders finding issue with that. I have very little trade experience on this site so far, so I'm certainly approaching this from a more casual perspective. I'd even be happy if the notifications or alerts were sent out on a delay. If I'm seriously looking for an item, I would probably be "hawking" for it as well and leave the "wishlist" items for less sought after items.

I'm sure there's some middle Ground to make the feature less detrimental for the more hardcore traders, but that is definitely a point I didn't consider.

You may be onto something here. There are definitely items that are not sought after that I want to buy. For example I've been looking for an Echoing
Throwing Spear
of
Enchant
for ages. Never any for sale - the vultures are not circling for this weapon lol. That would be a great item for me to get a notification for.
Teebling does keep track for items and how many times they have been traded. He might be able to implement a notification system but items in the top 100 sold/bought are not eligible for notifications? Things like gems, torches, runes etc would not be eligible for notifications.
Might be difficult to do and might not be worth the time for him, but who know?

TL;DR: Me thinks notifications would be bad because you've always people ruining it for everyone.

I'm only on here for 3 seasons but I’d like to give my two cents to it since i used such features on other platforms.

There are pros. I would like to get a notification for some niche item no one in their right mind would buy because i need it for some bogus build i came up with for the season. But when such tools are available, I’ve always seen a trend of meaningful trading activity becoming accessible for less people because others who're tech-affine and/or have the time on their hand to build systems that use these tools. These then become so effective over time that everything else is just background noise.

It also makes it easier to control the market for an item. Maybe i'm crazy, but i could swear at the start of this season i saw multiple new accounts offering
Horazon's Legacy
for multi HR prices. Never engaging in bidding, discussion or selling them. Might just be coincidence, but let's assume for a second it's not. With a notification system, a person orchestrating this could easily just grab all
Horazon's Legacy
from the market to protect the price they are trying to set.

Great point! Though I'd be fine even without the notification. Even if it didn't notify you, but rather have a section in your profile for items you have wishlisted and have them conveniently listed showing which trades are "new" since you last checked it, for example:
Then you would still have to manually check, albeit more conveniently, for the items you're looking for. And if you have several wishlisted items you would need to go through each one. This would at least require users to actively engage with the site to find new posts without simply getting notified of something they are watching having a new post. Maybe alert you only after several hours of inactivity (such as coming back the following day) so you could quickly catch up on any trades you might be interested in, but if you actively want to snipe a good deal, you would still need to be very active and vigilant to stay on top of it.

Something like this:
I do agree with you Hummel, the more tools available and more accessible things become the easier it is to manipulate and deteriorate the overall experience for less knowledgeable players or users of the site/tools. I would like to see a convenience feature like this without actually damaging the experience, so I'm glad more experienced traders are posting as there's a ton of implications to consider for features like these.

I came back with rotw after a year long hiatus. Immediately started hawking because the runes in stash aren't going to sell themselves. I welcome any feature that makes it even easier for me. :P

But seriously, I'm actually having fun searching and browsing more than I'd be with notifications. I feel indifferent about this potential feature.
Finding the gem in a sea of trades gives you that sense of Pride and accomplishment (TM). 🤷‍♂️

Can trade on LoD, RotW, and Ladder/Non-Ladder

Honestly, I was surprised to see this brought up, because I was trying to figure out a way to wish list an item earlier! Having a "wish list" feature for me would implement a way for me to keep track of what I would like to obtain. It doesn't have to be elaborate, or even notify me. Just a simple straightforward list of the items on my profile that I can access. That way, I wouldn't have to search for the SAME item every time I wanted to check in on its availability!

I would love a "space" (wish list) where I can add items I am aiming for and remove them once I obtain them. I don't want to post WTB's all day and wait for hits. I rather check my list, see if I have enough and purchase it when ready. (I'm scatterbrained enough to forget what I was looking at previously.. this way I can have a list.) It's basically like bookmarking the items pages and rolling out to the WTS from there. A personal wish list would support that idea, but implemented into the website.

I want to PLAY the game and not spend time searching for those "gems" that are as common as anything else. A lot of the hawkers can hawk, regardless of this feature. Its the same idea as me making bookmarks for multiple items I would like to get. I rather a feature that is implemented cleanly so I wouldn't have to have bookmarks, instead I would have a simple list of things I would like to obtain. Repeatedly looking for or remembering items I want for multiple characters can be a bit of a mess for me. I have bookmarks now.. but a wish list? I support the idea and I really do like what I have read here from everyone.

I just want to spend more time actually playing the game instead of repeatedly searching for items that are common, but still require digging to find.
