Can be used to make Runewords:

7
Diablo 2 was $60 in 2000, and the expansion was somewhere around $35 in 2001. If we adjust that for inflation to 2021 (when D2R came out), then it comes out to $145. That makes it seem like the $40 price for Resurrected was low, if we look at it from a content stand point. Development might have been easier due to the story, acting, and gameplay already being in place, but they still had to rewrite the engine to get 60 fps, and remake all of the 3D graphics from scratch. And despite how modern Blizzard has handled other games, they really nailed D2R.

I think some of the "deal" between the players and blizz is that we are paying them to put in proper development with new itemization and balance, and not just toss out a patch with questionable runewords (Mosaic!). To me, there are some smaller, but still pretty bold, changes to the game that I'm finally glad to see. Can't be frozen
Boots
, two unique rings with FCR, 2-handed weapons becoming viable, and so on. If $25 is the price we pay to get D2R out of maintenance mode, then so be it.

I don't think it ruined trading at all, quite the contrary. This has injected new life into the community.

your picture is all market combine, the op is more focus on LoD non warlock.

the d2r LoD is dead in some part, especially jewel trade that can replace by new jewel.
Even original LoD doesn't have those jewel but the old jewel market value is ruin. So does to craft market ,except amulet.

Please be aware, all my trade is in non ladder d2r. Not warlock.

I think instead of asking to combine both realms into one, wouldnt be better to just pay 25 dollars to just upgrade to the dlc? It just a measily 25 dollars.. that is just one overpriced dinner plate price in california :)
I simply don't believe that Blizztard has earned the money, they haven't in many years.
"Don't you guys have phones" was the final nail in the coffin, and it showed just how disconnected they were with the player community.
I get why you don't like Blizzard as a company. But, if we don't purchase content, we won't get content. So people who support D2R and buy the DLC, they may not like Blizzard as a company, but they LOVE D2R and want to see more DLC in the future.

D2R LOD exists for people who DO NOT want anymore content. D2R LOD must stay intact for people who just want the vanilla experience. Therefore, both realms need to remain separate forever.

This was the same when LOD was released. Same negativity towards Classic existed back then. Classic exists for people who don't like LOD, or just want to experience Classic D2. Now, its a repeat of 2001. Some people will move on, others will not. Not everyone wants the same thing, and that's OK.

Well, I think there might be a crucial point you overlook and which @ShadowHeart has pointed out now several times: D2 players are mostly NOT D4 players and there might be a not too small amount of players who explicitely do not want the DLC stuff - including the QoL features! (there is a reason why there is already the Classic Mode in D2R). To respect the wish of those long term players not to touch the game, the only way to do something new is to "fork" a new branch. Now, all "conservative players" can stay in D2R while the "progressives" can move to RotW 😉 Funnily, in RL I am a staunch conservative person but overall I like what they did and therefore decided to switch and hope for further improvements and optimization.
The argument that is made is: A dev needs to earn money, so they HAVE to price RotW the way they did. It is impossible to do anything else. Asking for free stuff is impossible.

I attacked this argument and proofed it wrong, by pointing to the simple fact that the same dev is handling stuff completly different in a another game.

That people seriously claim that "Blizzard is so awesome, it is protecting its players" with the way they handle RotW is probably one of the funniest things I have heard in the last 12 month.
As if people would complain when their gems stack up in the inventory instead of taking one slot at a team. Ridicilous.

It is done out of greed, pure and simple. And because they know they can get away with it.
Like I already said once - I am seriously disappointed that Blizz didn't
Charge
70 bucks for RotW. They would have gotten away with this as well.
Let's hope they learn something and make the next DLC 70 bucks+.

You have proved no one wrong. D4 is set up for a different monetization strategy. In D4 they sell mounts for $20 plus dollars, and make a lot of money from MTX. In D2R, their current strategy appears to be expansions ONLY for monetization. And the monetization strategy is set-up by the higher up's, not the D2R developers.

As far as value is concerned in gaming purchases. It's very subjective, Resident Evil Requiem will be worth it for $70 for some people -- while for other people it will not be worth it. In D2R, it's the type of game people sink thousands of hours in. Therefore, $25 is not very much for those people. In D3, over a decade ago, the necromancer pack was $15. So yeah, $25 is not seen as much money in the gaming world today. Many people, spend that much on MTX (one skin, mount, etc) in one single purchase.

Not joining the discussion of whether RotW is worth it's price, just answering OP's question:

Especially for HC, yes, D2R (pre-RotW) trading is dead.

D2R is nothing but a highly complex paper doll dress up simulator.

I've got 100+ crafted amulets (from cheap to gg). Let me know what you are looking for.
