Does it really? Im currently hunting for a 5os pb for a 2nd Grief on my offline Frenzy barb. I already have the runes. I'm hoping to start trying Uber Tristram and Uber ancients with him soon

I was thinking you could put it on a Bash merc, and telestomp with it like a reaper's toll merc. Against high physical resist monsters, having amp is probably better than Decrepify + might aura
Although the weapon damage itself is very weak for the endgame--might need it to be Eth for your merc to survive higher player count

Yup.
Been testing them with a few builds (old and new alike). And really, the main thing about ancients is just that you need enough life to eat the occasional massive dmg spike. Barbs tend to have that covered quite easily.
Just going through my core/existing/favorite builds, generally:
Those that can't do Uber Tristram well (non-leech casters, mainly) get annihilated by uber ancients.
Those that can do Uber Tristram but it takes a while can also do ancients but it does take just as long, if not longer and tends to be a bit more stressful (mainly because you have less room and can't separate them properly).
Those that can faceroll Uber Tristram can for the most part also faceroll through uber ancients.
The ones that stood out as surprisingly different though:
- Smiter is worse at ancients than at Tristram (still works just fine but far slower and with more dangerous potential damage spikes)
- Frenzy is way better at ancients than at Tristram (just plow through with a full dmg build, don't even need Life Tap or any of that)
- Hybrid phys-side java (yeah, I know, noone else has one of those ) annihilates Tristram but requires pure dumb luck to make it through ancients as the damage spikes can very much 1-shot her, given her pathetic life pool
Or, ya know, just make a lock. Pretty much can't go wrong there.
Got 6 different builds across all 3 trees by now that just completely annihilate uber ancients (and everything else). And still have a few more to test.

Well, CB and amp doesn't exclude each other, you can still get 50CB from GFace+Gores (and amp usually doubles it's effect since it removes all the positive DR% of enemies). I agree with krathkor, Grief+Dreadfang should be the best combo for PVM Frenzy barbs from now on.
I feel like the 2 seconds you'd save having to go EthDreadfang, with Zod + Pride isn't worth it vs double Grief + reaper's toll, especially when in every other bit of content the double Grief will do more damage and kill faster
The cost of Zod, Cham, SurLo, vs just a Lo isn't worth it IMO. Also your merc with a Pride will be extremely hard to keep alive since it will do very little damage and therefore won't leech as much.

Well, the example uses a fort build, where a reaper merc doesn't really work.
Otherwise, having a curse on your weapon gives so much comfort (even sundered immunes die easily), you just have to hold right click Frenzy, I'd def prefer this over dual Grief anyday.
