Need Some Help - Somehow Blizzard Didnt Retain My Characters - Your Assistance Requested

I have love the world of first, Diablo (which I bought and started on the first day of release, and Diablo 2 (same. I played D2 for five consecutive years, and then off and on, last time in about 2020. At that point, work and family issues took over all my time. In later years, I also spent substantial time with Diablo 3 (unfortunately) and Diablo 4 (disappointing). But nothing has come close to what great games Diablo and Diablo2 are. And so I was very excited by the news a new expansion, and new life in the game. I know Blizzard retains your characters for a long time (I was able to access mine in WOW after eight years) but for whatever reason, I was terribly disappointed to find out, after buying the D2 Infernal Edition, that my characters and all of their gear are gone forever.

I'll admit outright that building new characters from scratch is not necessarily what I enjoy the most. Playing higher level and endgame content is. So, I'm now left to build characters from scratch, which is something I can, and have done, obviously. However, I plan to build a

Whirlwind barb, and a bowazon. It literally took me years and years originally in D2, to get truly worthwhile equipment. I cant go through that again, knowing how rare good drops are in D2, and, apparently continuing in the D2 Resurrection and expansion game. I lost some great gear that I'll never replace, including a couple legendaries. Not to mention wagon loads of

Gold and gems and other things.

So, I am asking for a bit of help. Would any of you top level D2 players possibly be kind enough to help me put by gifting me with a really nice sword from your inventory, and a really nice bow (transferable, obviously) that you have in the stash but aren't using? I'm fine making all the effort to build my way up to a high level character IF I at least know that I will have a quality weapon for that character when I reach a high enough level. If you have anything else to spare, it would also be greatly welcomed. I'm honestly not asking for anything I haven't done many times in the past. I've generously helped out people with equipment countless times in D1, D2, D3, and D4. I've even done my best to almost completely outfit people in need when I had the gear. Hopefully the good karma returns for me.

Please let me know if you are willing to help me out. We can meet up in a game and do a handoff. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Without some help, given the disappointment of losing my characters and everything they owned, I'm not sure if returning to playing D2 is in the cards for me. Thank you.

Your old LoD characters are gone? You mean the online chars? The offline chars were just stored on your HDD.

Here are videos how to convert LoD chars to D2R, probably still works.

Have you ever played "Diablo 2 - Resurrected" or are you referring to "Diablo 2 - Lord of Destruction". Your old Online LOD Chars are not accessible in "Diablo 2 - Resurrected" but may still be available in LOD (you have to install the old game to check). Anyway, you cannot get them to the new game (only single player chars, as was already mentioned). Every one of us had to start from scratch again

But if you want to start a new WW Barb I can at least help you out with a complete Immortal King set for a start in the endgame.

if you are running normal/nightmare, look Ground around, see if you can find
+15 ed 6 os

Military Pick or
+15 ed 5os repeating cross bow.
I can pay some for those finding.

of course , if you already able equip imk. then you dont need ira's set.

Also, there are ways to lv up, like join cow room just follow. ira is for the case you want play mid lv

Not nearly ready for Immortal Kings set, but I will create my build to work with that in WW. I could absolutely use Iratha's because I can use it much sooner. Let me know how we can meet up. My barbarian is Reinold. I'll be in the game for the next four hours. THANKS!!!

You're not really trying to convert your old chars, are you? You just want free stuff. That's ok, but just say so without this unnecessary background story.

No old characters exist to convert. They are all gone from Blizzards archives.

TLDR for those who wants the meat:

OP claims to be longtime Diablo fan, lost all Diablo II characters on (and gear) in LOD after returning for the new expansion. OP is disappointed & sad, don't mind to but ultimately don’t want to grind from scratch again. Hence, OP is asking experienced players here for donated high-level weapons and gear (aka handouts / begging) to ease rebuilding and make returning to the game worthwhile.

1) Characters in OG D2LOD expires after lapse in access - they get deleted after that. IF you stayed long enough with the game you should know.
2) Legendaries? We call them uniques here. Surprised you didn't proof read before post.

I was refering to the time before D2R. The op mentioned the year 2020. Back in old LoD I only played SSF off-line and all my chars were on a HDD, of course, where else?

- i might have some runewords for swords left
