Who knows, bro, who knows. I just created a new account and linked it to Steam so I would have an extra copy for multiboxing.Florian_G wrote: 1 day agoIt appers to be available only the Infernal Edition (full game + DLC) and not only the Reign of the Warlock DLC.
This means we have to buy again the full game (39.99 E) and not only the DLC (24.99 E) to be able to play on Steam?
Could it be possible to aquire it from Battlenet shop but open it with Steam client? I like the Steam statistics and I also have others games there.

Good day to you partner!
This is exactly what I did but I kind of wish I had just linked it to my main account. Oh well.d2jsp wrote: 1 day agoWho knows, bro, who knows. Trade and lobby chats don't work in the Steam version. It's also impossible to change the region without a -flag.

It is also currently not possible to log into the game using an authorization token, bypassing clients.
Maybe @Shupershuff can come up with something.

I'm not familiar with how steam authentication works, I figured it would piggy back off Bnet but is that not the case?

Yes, the game still uses BattleNet, but it runs directly from Steam, bypassing the launcher.Shupershuff wrote: 8 hours agoI'm not familiar with how steam authentication works, I figured it would piggy back off Bnet but is that not the case?
If the game was not originally purchased on a BN account, but only on Steam, Blizzard asks you to repurchase it on your BN account.
So, even though you actually receive an authorization token through BattleNet, you can't log in to the game. But as soon as you launch D2R through Steam, authorization is successful.
Launching via a shortcut using email and password also doesn't work.
Steam interacts with BN somehow, but we need to trace the entire chain to connection and loading of characters.

Sorry, a little off topic. I do have a steam account, but I hardly use it. What are some reasons to play d2 through steam rather than bnet?
OP
You can earn in-game achievements, just like on consoles, and see your time spent playing. People generally buy D2R on Steam for the collection.Atomicharmony24 wrote: 2 hours agoSorry, a little off topic. I do have a steam account, but I hardly use it. You can also launch the game natively without the BattleNet launcher (although the BN version can also be launched via a shortcut, bypassing the client) and there's official Steam Deck support.
Maybe someday they'll add Steam Workshop support, who knows.
Good day to you partner!
linux is a reason for me. I switched to linux and I need to boot windows for tarkov only (sigh).
d2 works pretty well on steam since valve did all the work making games run on linux. hasn´t crashed until now, is fast, good fps, stable. works fine.
and since it's always a bit of a Hustle to get bnet up and running because it seems that blizzard doesn´t want that, I prefer steam.
