Mah man! THAT'S what I'm talking about! Congrats dude! Have a sip on my behalf - I've never perfectly upgraded an item.

Thanks for you guidance, I would never have thought that this is so valuable.
D2R is nothing but a highly complex paper doll dress up simulator.
I've got 100+ crafted amulets (from cheap to gg). Let me know what you are looking for.

Also got a perfect roll of the first up for the 29ed, i.e. 70 def Battle Gauntlets. Also nice but of course not as valuable.

Nice, Congratz! I think I have one or two 30 Magefist in my mules. Maybe I should consider upgrading them, too. But concerning my luck with cubing, I should let my sons do it...
After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

You can sell the unupped ones probably more easily. But if you still can self use them upped, I would say: go for it.
You also get kind of 2 shots. If you get a perfect roll after first upping, I'd keep that. There might be chars that don't want the high str. requirements and single upped have already much more def.
If the first roll is not perfect, just do the 2nd one.
With a low roll they won't be valuable but surely useable and for self use still better than unupped ones (assuming you are also using a Monarch).
P.S.: So far no interest for my perf upped ones. Probably a loooong sale.

It may take a while because it's a low demand item and only a handful of them get sold per month on Traderie and, from what I can tell, it has never had a recorded sale here. However, you should reliably get 8-10 Jah for them from a PvP player or collector. The value of perfection is exponential.vued wrote: 9 months agoYou can sell the unupped ones probably more easily. Separately, another item worth upgrading that hasn't been mentioned so far in this thread is Bloodfist. I recently traded a Mal for 20% ED, 83 defense Bloodfist Vampirebone Gloves for my own use. However, perfect 20% ED, 88 defense Bloodfist Vampirebone Gloves go for 10-15 Jah. A couple of weeks later, I found a 20% ED Bloodfist, which like a 30% ED Magefist, also sells for Lo before upgrades. Had the timing been different, I may have done a double upgrade for self-use, but a Mal for 83 defense is too good of a value trade.

I hope it is okay that i bump this old topic as i have a couple of relevant questions to ask.
I found a Viperskin +29 all res when doing a countess run one lonely night. Do you think it is worth upgrading? Is it worth the Ko and Lem rune if you want to trade it after use?
I have always loved the Goldstrike Arch bow, back from D2 legacy days. Is it worth it upgrading it to a Hydra Bow, damage wise? Does anyone know the mathematical equation to figure out the damage improvement from upgrading a Gothic Bow to a Hydra Bow?
Like original poster i also find it hard to know what people like and that the market likes.

Personally I would not up a 29All res viper. But if you are SSF and its the only one you found? Sure, upgrade that bad boy.Zeno-Verona wrote: 9 hours agoI hope it is okay that i bump this old topic as i have a couple of relevant questions to ask.

As for Goldstrike Arch look at the Enhanced Damage that comes on the bow. A base Gothic Bow comes with 10-50 Damage. GSA gives 200-250ED giving it a max damage range of 35-175 (assuming you rolled 250ED). Math: [(10*2.5)+10] for min dmg [(50*2.5)+50] for max dmg
Now if you upgrade this to a Hydra Bow we look at the base damage of that which is 10-68. So if we assume made ED again our we get 35-258. Math: [(10*2.5)+10] for min dmg [(68*2.5)+68] for max dmg
Now as far as upping it? Again, I wouldn't do that unless you REALLY like the bow or you are SSF. A great, I mean really GREAT, budget bow for a physical bowzon is Witchwild String. Now that bow is worth upgrading and its really cheap.
To your question , "worth" , it will depends if you how long you are going to use it. if it is more than 1 week, upgrade is worth it.
About trade, Viperskin +29 is not worth anything, regardless you upgrade it or not. if you search carefully, you can find perfect condition all resist viper with Lem + Ko pricing.
Favor Perfect Amethyst over Perfect Skull...
These days, I don't need that much Perfect Skull, it is less encourage to pay in Perfect Skull but it will treat slightly better than Perfect Gems.

It's interesting everyone's only assuming armor, very few people mention weapon upgrades; I'll list a few of my favorite gems:
Coldsteel Eye : if you can upgrade to an Ataghan with 250% ed this sword slaps, the 50% deadly paired with Highlords Wrath and Gore Riders, you can have max double damage, and the 30% slow and blind are just icing on the cake for bosses and big minions. Used with a fireclaw hybrid Werebear and it was amazing.
Ribcracker : easy candidate, amazing withy Fury druids.
Fleshrender : Sadly mostly overshadowed by 'Beast', but a 200% ed upped Fleshrender does some serious damage and now with wias basically eliminated this is a descent candidate for Shapers again.
Buriza-Do Kyanon : upped Buriza has been busted since the beginning of time.
Aldur's Rhythm : YESSSS... Aldurs baby stick can now be upp'ed. It no longer has to be Charsie food after nightmare, in fact I tried out and as a Devil Star if you go Werebear Maul/FC hybrid with 2xBer, 1x Lo it ACTUALLY does 'somewhat' descent physical damage, now that Maul charges past lvl 30+ can get you to a descent attack speed and you don't have to rely on adding 4-6 Shaels to every weapon to hit a single breakpoint.
Hwanin's Justice : YERRSSS again... you can finally upgrade this piece of ish Bill to a SLIGHTLY less piece of ish Collossus Voulge, and I still haven't done it yet but I'm tempted. Not because I think it will be good, let's be honest there's no saving this set... no Gores or Gloves or Highlords is enough to make it good but I could see this being viable on a Fury druid and kind of fun, the prevent monster heal on the Belt of the set is nice and it's kind of funny it gives static when you get smacked, that's why I think maybe a Fury with dracs might be okay'ish.

+1 for what Knappogue said. Also: Def is not that relevant on most chars.
Since this thread was revived, I'd like to mention that Magefist 98 are now down to 3 Jah from 10 Jah (SCNL). So not worth upgrading anymore...

The only thing one has to keep in mind is that a Cutlass has a base speed of -30 while a Ataghan only has a base speed of -20.JARY wrote: 2 hours agoColdsteel Eye : if you can upgrade to an

That's how I lost an attackspeed breakpoint with my merc for my Blizzard Uber-Trist sorc.
That's true, however for Werebear's now the new Wias system has really normalized the attack speed, I've toyed around with it alot but the attack speed is predominantly focused around the Maul level and charges now, most weapons are going to Cap off around 7-8 frames per attack. I kind of love and hate it at times.... for instance your Phase blades and Gris Caddys aren't gonna be hitting that 4-5 frames like in the past Shael'd up, but at the same time slower weapons in past that only have 0-30%wias with enough oias and Maul charges will all eventually hit like 7-8 frame attack with enough consecutive hits. So mid-speed attack items like Botd, Grief, or Stormlash pretty much stay the same if not a little slower, the robo sticks and caddy's get slower, but the slower Mauls like Fleshrender or Astraeon's actually get a lot better because the attack speed isn't so reliant on the weapon speed.rixsen wrote: 1 hour agoThe only thing one has to keep in mind is that a Cutlass has a base speed of -30 while a Ataghan only has a base speed of -20.JARY wrote: 2 hours agoColdsteel Eye : if you can upgrade to an
