Description

When active, aura freezes nearby monsters.

Area damage increases at closer range.

Player vs Player - This will slow but will not Freeze other Players.

Cold Resistances and Cannot Be Frozen Items will not affect
Holy Freeze.

Lore

Using this aura, the Paladin causes the temperature of the air around him to drop drastically, freezing the flesh of his enemies.

Those so affected will find their movement drastically hindered and are easily dispatched back to the Hells from whence they spawned.

The Runeword Doom (axes, polearms and hammers with 5 sockets) grants a lvl 12
Holy Freeze aura.

The Runeword Ice (missile weapons with 4 sockets) grants a lvl 18
Holy Freeze aura.

Holy Freeze will affect cold immune monsters, but will not affect monster immune to chill effects (like Death Lord -
Blood Lord variant.)

Holy Freeze slowing effect is different in each difficulty as monsters get stronger and more resistant. In nightmare its cut by 1/3 and in hell by 1/2 slowing effectivness.

When an aura enchanted elite monster has the
Holy Freeze aura, the aura level depends on the monster level: max([mlvl/7],1)
  • mlvl 4 = slvl 1
  • mlvl 14 = slvl 2
  • mlvl 21 = slvl 3
  • mlvl 28 = slvl 4
  • mlvl 35 = slvl 5
  • mlvl 42 = slvl 6
  • mlvl 49 = slvl 7
  • mlvl 56 = slvl 8
  • mlvl 63 = slvl 9
  • mlvl 70 = slvl 10
  • mlvl 77 = slvl 11
  • mlvl 84 = slvl 12
  • mlvl 91 = slvl 13
  • mlvl 98 = slvl 14 1)
1) Only possible in TZ 95+ (character level 93+), except for
Griswold,
Radament and
Nihlathak, who can have level 14
Holy Freeze already at TZ 92 due to their inherent extra +3 level bonus
