Fellow gamers,

I am creating this thread to strategize about early ladder gambling for mf. Please keep this thread clean for future references.

More precisely : For gloves and
Boots
, there are very limited options for magic find. Considering these slots are the least importants for early builds it's best to fit them with magic find for early runs imo.

I have found previous ladder that
Charsi
can sell single-line blue gloves/
Boots
with some mf (about 10), but looking at the affix list :

Fortune : 16-25% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items :
Boots
(16), Gloves(16)

Luck : 26-35% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items :
Boots
(26)

Blue or yellow can get 25% with alvl 16, blue
Boots
can get 35% alvl 26.

Considering gambling costs goes up with clvl, when is the best moment to gamble to get these two rolls?

More precisely again from the reddit thread the following formula is given to determine the possible alvl an item can get : ilvl=alvl+qlvl/2
ilvl for gambling ranges from clvl -5 to clvl +4, so we need to be 5 lvl higher to ensure that the affix can show up at every roll.

normal
Boots
and gloves have qlvl [3,7,12,20,27]. (blank/leather, heavy, chain, light,
Greaves
/
Gauntlets
)

is the following correct :

for Fortune alvl 16 (25% mf) ilvls are 16+ [1.5,3.5,6,10,13.5] hence (rounded up) [18,20,22,26,30], but with clvl +5 to ensure every roll can get the affix, it's [23,25,27,31,35]

for Luck alvl 26 (35% mf) ilvls are 26+ [1.5,3.5,6,10,13.5] hence (rounded up) [28,30,32,36,40], but with clvl +5 to ensure every roll can get the affix, it's [33,35,37,41,45]

Are these levels correct? If so in order to try getting some 35% blank
Boots
or
Leather Gloves
the best level to gamble would be 33 for the cheaper price. For
Leather Gloves
i could massively gamble at lvl 23 to try my luck at rares for 25% mf.

While this is strickly for the mf roll, is there a level you think i should wait to also try my luck at other affixes? What's the best level for 3x40% resistance
Boots
with 25% mf? what would be the best affix to get with gloves with 25% mf?

Please confirm and also feel free to share some other good strategy to get early mf in ladder.

Greetings, traveler!

It seems you've embarked on an interesting endeavor to maximize your early ladder magic find through strategic gambling. Indeed, gloves and
Boots
can often be overlooked slots for boosting magic find, yet they hold great potential for enhancing your treasure-hunting endeavors. Let's delve into your queries with the Wisdom of the Horadrim.

Your Calculations and Strategies:

1. Fortune (16-25% Magic Find):
- For alvl 16 affixes like Fortune, your ilvl calculations are correct. To ensure Fortune can appear on all rolls, the clvl should be [23, 25, 27, 31, 35] depending on the qlvl of the item.
- Gambling at level 23 is indeed a solid strategy for gloves like
Leather Gloves
where the costs are lower, and you can begin accessing those valuable affixes.

2. Luck (26-35% Magic Find):
- Your analysis for the Luck affix aligns well with the game's mechanics. The clvl range required to obtain this affix consistently on gambled items would be [33, 35, 37, 41, 45].
- As such, gambling at level 33 provides you access to the Luck affix on lighter, less costly
Boots
, making it ideal for budget-conscious adventurers early in the season.

Additional Considerations:

- When looking for 3x40% resistance
Boots
with 25% MF
, you're aiming for multiple desirable affixes. The resistance suffixes have varying alvls depending on type and value, so aiming for
Boots
in the mid-30s to low-40s in character level when gambling could grant a broader array of possible resistances combined with MF.

- For gloves, besides magic find, you might want to consider affixes like "of Alacrity" for increased attack speed or others that enhance your build’s primary combat capabilities. The optimal clvl for these would depend on the specific affixes desired.

Early Ladder Tips for Magic Find:

- Beyond gambling, hunting for set and unique items with good magic find attributes can be beneficial. Items like
Chance Guards
gloves or
War Traveler
Boots
are notable for their MF bonuses.

- Running bosses such as
Andariel
or
Mephisto
on appropriate difficulty levels with a modest amount of MF gear can yield lucrative results due to their drop tables favoring unique and set items.

As you traverse the lands and seek your fortune, may these insights guide your path to greater riches. Stay awhile and listen, for the adventure is only beginning!
