Runes for the Rune Master

A little advice or help needed here. So I have a 5os

Rune Master, deciding what to put in. I have a few 30+ %ED jewels with 15 IAS, so was thinking to add 2x of those to get 60+ ED and 30 IAS. But was curious to add maybe runes for these affixes

Um - +25% Open wounds

Mal - Prevent Monster Heal

Lo - +20% Deadly strike

Ber - +20% Crushing blow

From my Memory (which is poor) I always thought Open Wounds was good with poison damage (boy oh boy could I ever be wrong on that one). One way this weapon will be use is for

Smite and not

Zeal, so yes maybe I could add more

Shael so I look like a coked up meth head on crack. Thinking more a weapon that can aid both

Zeal &

Smite.

I should add, I have a really good eDeath & Doom, & Grief. The

Rune Master is a "End of ladder, I am bored, lets do stupid stuff". I have a 33% ED & 29 Light resist jewel that made me think to try something whacky with Uber Meph. I am inclined towards adding

In terms of Ubers - if you already have Dracul's,

Gore Rider, or even a well rolled blood crafted

Belt the Open Wounds is unnecessary. 10% OW anywhere on your gear is good enough. Open Wounds IIRC lasts about 8 seconds, so because of this having a super high proc % is actually quite useless if you're a smiter at the max 6FPA breakpoint. Even for a

Frenzy Barb or other char relying on AR I wouldn't say it matters much.

If you already have Gface and

Gore Rider, more Crushing Blow is also kind of unnecessary. 50% CB is more than enough for Ubers - or anything else in the game, really. CB loses alot of effectiveness when monsters health bar is low, especially Ubers with their regen. This is also why if you've ever done Ubers using a smiter with Gface +

Gore Rider + Grief you'll notice it's much faster at cutting down their health pool when it starts to get low than Last Wish.

If it were me I'd probably put 4x

Ohm runes and 1

Shael rune, although I'm not sure what the breakpoints are for the

Ettin Axe off top of my head, so I would double check that and if the

Shael rune is unnecessary, maybe 5 x

Smite, they can use 6 os

Ber+something or Last Wish

Zeal, Grief flat damage beat

Eth

Ohm

Unless, you want to use +max cold resist.

Personally I'd add just enough IAS to get to your desired BP. I'm assuming a melee character will be using this so if you already have a source of CB (G-Face, Gore Riders, or

Blood Gloves) then I wouldn't bother with

Ber. Use

Shael (or ED/IAS) to hit that BP and then fill the rest of the sockets with

Ohm or ED/MAX dmg jewels.

I wouldn't recommend this normally but since "lets do stupid stuff"

Update us with a screenshot when you're done

Both the merc and I have around 70k dps and it mows through Trav! D2planner is wrong with the WW breakpoints so my dam is x 1.5 shown in the planner.

Haahaa, if I stand on one foot, squint, and stick my thumb out I can see it from your point of view.
Based on his question and examples he is looking for increasing it's DPS and/or melee effectiveness.
