No it doesn't, you can't break it since you won't hit with it. It's actually the other way around. People tend to pay more for the "skin" aspect of the ethereal weapon.

from my understanding via jsp, nobody wants Eth esch/occy/any weap. unless for merc. Diff views on diff forums i guess

People just don't understand/know that Eth weapons on characters not hitting in melee won't break. Just search on old D2 forums, you'll find tons of subjects about Eth occy and info about that
