Description

Good morning diablo 2 brethren.
I am legitimately curious about the trade economy - i see in forums all the time "bro, thats GG, easily 10+
Jah
".
This begs the question - is this just a reference point to illustrate an item's value relative to something people associate with high value? Or, do big time players literally just walk around with a box full of
Jah
's?
Say I have a baller of a rare ring, a 6-pointer and I want to sell it for 15
Jah
, is the expectation that someone will literally give me 15
Jah
's or rather, someone would give me a few 20/5 sc's, because of its equivalent value?

I dont usually participate in such high end trading, mostly because every instance is met with one of the following:
1. Thats not GG
2. That's not even worth a
Pul

3. [crickets]
4. Good luck to you

Anyways, just wanted to have a conversation.
En Taro Adun, and Hail to you, champion!

Yes, some people definitely have a whole stash (or stashes) full of
Ber
/
Jah
- I think we have quite the few such wealthy players on this site. It’s not at all unexpected on non-ladder considering the game has been out for over 4 years and some people have been playing for all this time, and seeing how non-ladder economy never resets (if anything, there’s just continuous inflation on non-ladder, but it has stabilized somewhat). Like.
Ber
/
Jah
runes were valued at 20-30
Ist
per in the early days of D2R (and still is in the very beginning of each new ladder season), now it’s like half that on non-ladder or less.

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.

Yes, and even more thanks to
Uber Tristram
, and some lucky finds.

If your GG ring, is most likely the best you can get for quite a while why not spend alot of on it? A stach of
Jah
's aint doing you any good (also 20+ = 21 Jahs is only 21 slots =))

For reference you should look at the griffon retepnap and Tornado_OLO bid on it went for 70
Jah
, so 15
Jah
for a mostlikely BIS ring is definetly worth it - pricecheck.php?item=794

Note: Sorry if I'm not allowed to comment, since I'm not rich enough

BIN = buy it now! If you BIN, please add me and let's trade.
LF = Looking for, non-negotiable value

Primary available 17:00 - 22:00 UTC

Items are sold on a FIFO basis. Please comment below to claim.

you're totally right about SC NL Economy - i expect that i can get very good stuff for nothing, and by that same token, the very good stuff i have will likely yield very little.
oh well, maybe next ladder :)

If you think that's poor, you should see my miserable rune stash. I'm still hanging on to
El
's, eventually I'll cube enough to get a
Ral
.

Old man still killing demons and yelling at clouds.
Looking for an
Um
. Msg me if you have one for sale.

The maximum I was able to get on a ladder season was around 10 Jahs and that's through constant trading and a lot of luck.

I can easily imagine people having whole tabs of Jahs on non-ladder as ShadowHeart has pointed out. It never resets :)

GMT +2 / GMT +3 on DST (Greece)
Please add me on B.Net ONLY if you match my BiN, or we came to an agreement.
Do not send me offers on B.Net PMs :)

I'm just happy I got my first
Ist
yesterday. I look at it as people that have stockpiles of higher end stuff have more time to devote to the game than I do. And trading? Yeah, don't have the patience for that.
7
I only play NL, so yes. This is made worse by the fact that I don't buy items, only sell, so the Jahs keep stacking up. There's only so many Enigmas I need.

GMT-3
I only play softcore, non-ladder.

Someone made an interesting point a few years before:
- Poor players mainly trade in
Perfect Gems

- Average players mainly trade in Ists

- Rich players mainly trade in Bers and Jahs

- Super rich players trade in small charm currency (the 5/20 = 20 life / 5 all res is worth around 25
Jah
), the 3/20/20 = 3 max damage / 20 attack rating / 20 life is worth around 150-200
Jah
if I remember correctly - I am definitely in the average + zone so not sure)

Image

Main: Necromancer / Second: Assassin / Third: Amazon / Check my stash tabs :)

A 20/5 SC is probably worth more like 40
Jah
or something, but yeah people hoard them as currency. I got a perfect
Annihilus
about a year ago, traded it for like 25
Jah
, and have used that as my Wealth ever since. Can use them to trade for other stuff or break them down into smaller runes, etc.

Usually looking for Runes, Essences, PGems, Tokens, Keys, etc.
Always willing to discuss and negotiate :)

Check out my "Free Stuff" tab for...FREE STUFF!
Before adding me on bnet, please comment on the trade so I know who you are!

You forgot a category:

Lazy traders who've acquired enough Wealth, stop trading altogether. :D

I for one have a small stash of
Jah
and
Ber
on SC NL. I've made some very good friends over the years. For example, a friend dropped a cracker of a claw to make a very special Mosaic base, I socketed it for him and he gave me some of the profits. But another example is a
Jah
dropped from a trash mob the other day and the proceeds of that drop went to a person that got ripped off trading her 100 Rals. So for me it's six of one & half a dozen of the other. As someone mentioned above, there's only so many Enigmas you need and I swap gear around on/from characters I'm not currently playing.

Someone once told me... "Never go full Sigon's"..... Sage advice!

Always available for help/trade and maybe some freebies along the way depending on what I have and what you need

Hi, you don't need to be 6, or perfect to get 15
Jah
value. Actually, your case is just 5 point hit with high roll.

10 FCR
11 All Resist
29 Light Resist
29 Life
20 STR
---not so good miss thing--
2 Damage reduced

Think about this 5 hit not so GG case, it will worth 15
Jah
.
if we replace DR with 90 mana or 30 Fire Resist. This will be extreme case which is probably worth a box of 3/20/20 .

You have to understand, the difficulty of 5 hit high roll and 6 hit high roll is in different universe.
5 hit perfect roll is 1 out of 224 mil ring. Not so impossible but it is possible. 6 hit gg is just impossible, not even if d2r run another 10 year with full player.

Actually , I think this ring thing again, if you roll craft ring with 4 perfect hit, it can also go to 15
Jah
.
(craft ring can reach 4 + good roll of other thing ~ 5.2 hit if all correct vs rare ring 6 hit.)

the other aspect, this game,
Jah
to build engima is big improve of game experience. As for ring, 4 hit vs 6 hit, the game experience itself is no, nothing improve. Think about this, it is more important than spend a huge Wealth for things that aren't help much.

Favor
Perfect Amethyst
over
Perfect Skull
...
These days, I don't need that much
Perfect Skull
, it is less encourage to pay in
Perfect Skull
but it will treat slightly better than
Perfect Gems
.

My other two cents is how we perceive Wealth...Wealth can means a shit ton of high runes or the involvement of community in this game.
I like to believe it's a rich combination of both...but mostly the latter IMO

yes, this is also true . the
Jah
thing is just makes you feel you are rich.
Jah
is roughly worth around 0.4 usd or similar, 40 cent.

A good dinner in sunnyvale, CA usually cost 40-50 usd with tips. That is roughly 110
Jah
or more, consider of the time cost, even if you get 1
Jah
per trade.

That is also another reason that people will just spend few
Jah
to get 4+ hit ring with almost same performance to 6 gg.

the game is more about get something you want and feel good, not really about rich thing, it is not realistic.(the topic 20
Jah
, it is just 12 usd that everyone pay more than that to get this game)
