Hell, it's about time! (...for Ubers)

Hello!
I'm a casual Diablo gamer and I'm about to do my first

Uber Tristram. This is a recap of my preparations and the result.

The hero of this undertaking is a Hammerdin. He will reskill into a hybrid with one point in

Smite and one point in

Fanaticism. Right now, the distribution of attributes is still up for debate.

The weapon of choice is a

Herald Of Zakarum, upgraded to Elite, socketed with a

Perfect Diamond, in combination with a Black

Flail.

Armour-wise, he takes into battle a Duress armour,

Guillaume's Face,

Gore Rider and

Thundergod's Vigor. Treachery is standing by to buff resistances.
Speaking of buffs: Call To Arms is also ready for action.

We are coming to a sore point: He is lacking

Dracul's Grasp. Level 1

Life Tap comes from a

Wand. 16 seconds is quite short, recasting might be required. And during the recast, resists will be lower due to lack of a second HoZ. He should probably pick up Ancients' Pledge as a secondary shield.
Right now, the gloves slot is occupied by

Venom Grip. It adds 5% to Crushing Blow, but the total chance is 110%, so this is unnecessary. Otherwise, it adds Poison resist. Is this even relevant for Ubers?

As for jewelery, our Hammerdin wears

Highlord's Wrath, although

Mara's Kaleidoscope is an available option,

Raven Frost and

Dwarf Star. This gives him absorb in all three major resistances.

The

Annihilus he is wearing is 15/11. No Torch as of yet. One Combat Skiller. A bunch of resist charms result in 227% fire, 302% lightning, 235% cold, 224% poison resist with

Fade active.

Fire and cold resists are low and could be increased with gloves, at the expense of poison resist. Also, Highlord's could be swapped with Mara's for less lightning, more fire and cold.

Right now, the hero is meditating and waiting for the right time to start his quest.

IMO very good preparations - you adressed all important points
EDIT: In any case make a PW protected game to have the ability to rejoin and recover your body if something goes wrong.

Remember that you can stuff up your inventory to the max with resi-charms.
You only need 2 free slots to pick up the Torch.

You may want 1 skillpoint in

Salvation - that will increase your +all Ressistance by A LOT.
Then you can use this aura, until you have defeated Mephi and then switch to Fanatism.

My inventory is already pretty full and I don't have any good resist charms left. Maybe I can add some 3% to fire or something.

Salvation for

Mephisto seems to be a very good idea. This should bump fire and cold to max.

What exactly are your resists with all buffs? IMO it is sufficient to have lightning at 300+ and cold capped. When Meph with his

Conviction aura is down the other two guys should pose no big problem in terms of elemental damage.

A non-paladin torch is available if you want to bump up your numbers a little further. I'm on NA NL as bigbikefan#1400. A better

Annihilus is also available if you choose to accept. Both free.

Soooo? How did it go?

The two most important things for the first uber attempt are in my opinion:

- whenever you are about to die, do not try to reach the red portal. Go away from the portal to the bottom left (open land, no buildings is easier to get corpse back) and die like a man. If you die near the portal (and an uber is sitting next to it), it is impossible to get back the corpse.

- it is still hart/impossible to get back the corpse even then. So have a backup buddy ready. He is just online and waits to jump in if needed.
If SCNL I am happy to be that buddy. I did thousands of ubers (yes, really) and can help if you want.

Very well prepared. Before you got Draculs, I would have suggested to buy a higher level

Life Tap

Wand. But no longer needed. You are well prepared. Approach Tristan from the south and lure meph out at "the summoning Stone" and the rest should be a piece of cake.

Regarding poison resist: Yes, it is useful but not absolutely mandatory. You can chuck potions before going into battle. Both cold and poison make sense. Meph spawns mages with all elements, so combined with his auto this can be annoying.

You should have full pr for

Lilith and full cr for izusal. But you can manage with less.

It's always like that when they are little. Our hero exhibits immense mental Fortitude.
