Uber Meph - Help I am getting pwned :)

Level 92 Pally that started out as Auradin now fully switched to traditional Zealer w/ Smite. Switched out gear to using Andy (needed Str) to use Hoz, Gores, Dracs, Fort, etc. After first run and getting mauled I added Thundergods just for Meph. For weapons I have used Death, but have tried Heaven's Light & Grief when Smite is in use. Lightning res is up to 80%, and life is at 1620 (using CTA).

The situation is that upon first contact I usually am 1-shot dead. Rinse & repeat 2-3 more times then maybe on 4th try I can start whacking away. Life Tap I think kicks in, I can see a few times my life drop to almost zero then shoots back up, then Meph dies. After I have no problems at all with Baal & Diablo, just in fact had to deal with both at same time + summons and I survived.

Since last night every single time I draw Meph out and run up to Smite, I get immediately killed. Frustrating because last week I did this 8 times, and only first 2 times this was happening (what changed was adding Thundergods + couple light res SCs). 4 times taking down Meph was no different than any other boss, and only 2nd to last did I die. Now this run (about 5 so far) I have been mauled every time.

So any advice, tips, item suggestions, etc.. would be appreciated.

Uber Mephisto has a level 20 Conviction aura which reduces your resistences by a massive -125%. This is probably why you are getting one-shot.

Just capping out light res is not enough, you need to overcap it and overcap it enough to still be about capped under his Conviction. You can also use your own 21+ Conviction to cancel out his one.

Edit: there's also Wisp Projector for even more Lightning Absorb. Personally I combine it with T-God and 300+% total light res

The goal should be to include 300 light res. A 1 point in Salvation could help you too (you can switch back to Fanaticism when Meph is dead)

fill your invetory in light resist charms, as the other guy said 300% light is all you need, that gets you 80% while under mepho's aura. you can fuck him easy even if your fire/cold ress are negative.
also fuck Zakarum Shield just wear Exile instead.
as soon as you can proc Life Tap means you won't die.

Thanks Sor & Necrarch, I think this problem is solved. I traded for a Whisp Projector, and reset stats to add 1 point into Salvation.

Went into face Meph and started out with Salvation. After I got my motor going and saw Life Tap was working I switched to Fanaticism and it went pretty good. Only used 2x Rejuvies. Got my Light Res up to 314%
