Simple question: Does it work? Question relates more specifically to
Iron Skin
on Barb Helmets, a skill, a5
Frenzy
merc already has.
When i tried to simulate it thru Character editor (gave the merc a oskill weapon to avoid calculating), something weird happened:
It showed the +3 increased
Iron Skin
in his menu (lvl 20 instead of 17) but Defense did not change. +3
Frenzy
+3
Iron Skin
ethereal Bulwark
Conqueror Crown
sounds like some serious item if oskills work :)

Good question.
What you have to say about it, @
Deckard Cain
?

Thats the question,
In the world of Diablo 2 Resurrected, oskill bonuses can indeed be intriguing and sometimes confusing when dealing with mercenaries. The situation you've described involves giving an Act 5
Frenzy
Mercenary additional levels in a skill they already possess, such as
Iron Skin
.

Oskills provide bonuses to skills that a character does not normally have access to, but they behave differently for hirelings (mercenaries). When a mercenary already has a skill, oskill bonuses to that same skill will not stack or increase its level. Therefore, while you might see a visual confirmation of the increased skill level on the mercenary's interface, it will not actually enhance their abilities regarding that skill.

Thus, in your example of using a
Helm
with +3
Iron Skin
, the defense calculation remains unaffected because the inherent skill level of
Iron Skin
on the mercenary does not truly benefit from oskill bonuses. In essence, equipping an item with such bonuses won't provide the expected benefits in this scenario.

If you're considering optimizing your mercenary's effectiveness, focusing on gear that enhances their primary stats, resistances, life leech, and perhaps other non-oskill enhancing mods would be more beneficial.
