Be careful about trade, that if you engage big trade. Be sure to use trade window or exchange it into big currency and trade.
Recently , I experience some of the trade that state slightly cheaper than market average and have small but ok reputation.
They refuse to use trade window to do Jah trade and expect to do drop trade.
I suspect they are trying to cheat the trade.
----
Be sure to use trade window even if it is only 3 Jah for those unfamiliar people.
for very expensive trade, be sure to separate it into smaller trade . i.e. use something worth more than 2jah per space as middle token and exchange all back when it is done.(case of more than 60 Jah item.)

Favor Perfect Amethyst over Perfect Skull...
These days, I don't need that much Perfect Skull, it is less encourage to pay in Perfect Skull but it will treat slightly better than Perfect Gems.

I only do drop trades above Vex with people who have many positive reviews or whom I know for a while.
I occasionally trade 100-200 unid Annihilus and here you have to drop the goodies
But I try to limit the risk by trading in lots of 12 Annihilus per Jah and if someone has only a few reviews I insist that he drops first.

After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

That's why we should use trade window more. I sometimes buy or sell massive of mixed small things. Keys also.
That I will recommend to use trade window that will help each other to count.
Ist / Vex + to use trade window is good idea.
And be careful about trade that looks slightly cheaper than market average. It can trade but need to be careful.

You cant trade 6x 3x3 keys for a Jah in 1 trade window ... u can max trade 2x3x3 keys + 2 keys
So i should trade the Jah to 3x Lo and also 1x Lo for 2x 3x3 Keys. That would be the best answer. But i tried to trade the other way and i failed.
Nothing i can correct now. But i can do better in the future.

But for your case, you probably use 1 x Lo to 2 x 3 x 3 keys x 3 times and trade 3 Lo to Jah again to finish the desire trade.

Good advice by the way regarding safe trades etc.
It's actually sad seeing more and more players are switching to the dark side and trying to wiggle out of a fair deal or are more prone to steal/cheat/scam you nowadays... I have read about that HC character killing and what not and was left speechless... I also sometimes see douches in random lobbies intentionally annoyingly killing low level players just because they think it shows they have a big pp and stuff like that... And I'm saying this thinking exclusively about D2R. Still, I think majority of people just want to have fun and help other fans have equal amount of fun. I must be extremely lucky and the fact I don't trade for expensive stuff adds onto that but I can't remember if I had a single problem with someone by trading via this site -- like the actual act of trading as you are saying when you reach the moment you need to exchange stuff (excluding situations like offering or being offered troll or offensive offers, walking away/retracting offer for whatever reason before meeting in-game to trade, not responding or getting no response/waiting for a long time to figure out time to trade after adding someone on bnet, etc.).
I also kinda, vaguely, remember about 1 guy being accused (and it was proven I think?) of being a scammer here on this site, who had some decent amount of trust and some drama about it, but IIRC he was removed from further trading (at least from here and from that account) so it was eventually resolved with minimum players suffering from him. But yeah, apart from that, I didn't even see people complain or share such negative experiences here in a long time... So that + my own + my friend's + whatever I have found on the internet in comments lead me to conclusion that those kind of slimey moves are very sporadic situations that are often negligible (or as we gamers would say are just a nasty RNG).

Someone much smarter than me already said once: "The real value of something doesn't reflect in a number of how much a seller can ask for it, but on how much a buyer is willing to pay."

d2io is better, relatively safe I would say. I am first time to hear that people experience the same thing. I do hear some big Jah scam but it is far from me..
Trade is trade , use trade window more to save you and your trade partner's trade mood.
Thanks for sharing trade experience btw.
trust and review is just reference, use trade window for high value trade always.

This might indicate that you are probably not among the "filthy rich"
If I remember correctly I only dropped Jah and other high runes when transferring them from a char of one of my sons to one of mine or vice versa. It is simply too annoying to use the trade window, especially if you have to transfer large amounts of items and runes

It's not even that necessarily, but what if the server goes down or a disconnect happens while it's on the Ground!? But yes I understand how annoying it is and if it's a quick trade it is usually fine.oOKIWIOo wrote: 1 month agoThis might indicate that you are probably not among the "filthy rich"![]()
Most of the guys with whom I traded large amounts of Annihilus simply dropped all their Jah first and then collected the charms.

If the server goes down you get notified 15 minutes before the shutdown and from then on after every minute. But of course disconnects can happen and even if you have a very stable connection this does not help when Blizz has issues with the servers. Fortunately those issues are very seldom an therefore I am willing to take that riskjustinman114 wrote: 1 month agoIt's not even that necessarily, but what if the server goes down or a disconnect happens while it's on the Ground!? I'm always afraid of this as well when I'm doing transferring with my pops! I'm also usually the impatient one telling him to scoop up everything from the ground ASAP constantly even tho he's like 'come on sonny don't be so cranky, give me a minute or 10 to up all those low runes/gems' and it's making me be on the edge!justinman114 wrote: 1 month agoIt's not even that necessarily, but what if the server goes down or a disconnect happens while it's on the Ground!? P.S. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with this entire thread, you SHOULD be careful and minimize the negative outcomes of trades that may occur at any point. People like me DO get false feeling of security and are more prone to go for the more convenient ways without much carry of what might happen just because we never had that kind of bad experience so far... But yes, you are completely right -- all you need is 1 sleazy merchant and 1 shady offer that can ruin you forever and puts you into that constant fear or insecurity where you are suspecting everyone and questioning everything. And yeah, from that point onward you will always have regret(s) of not being careful enough... I do feel sad for anyone who lived thru that but lemme also tell ya -- YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. It was just an atrocious RNG, you have found that 1 douche in thousands of other normal players/fans - people like you. I know, it stings badly but shit happens.

The only time someone tried to scam me was in a public non-site related game (something like Emerald socketed Shako for Harlequin Crest, but seen it). Be more careful in such conditions.
Main: Necromancer / Second: Assassin / Third: Amazon / Check my stash, my crafts and my many cheap Annihilus
Never have seen this one before, those scammers can be really creative.Necrarch wrote: 1 month agoThe only time someone tried to scam me was in a public non-site related game (something like Emerald socketed Shako for Harlequin Crest, but seen it). Be more careful in such conditions.
Maybe we should make a thread and share all the different scam attempts (and how they work) to help new players spot them?
I can share at least 5 scams that scammers tried with me and I fell for two of them (20 years ago).
I've got on SCNL

You never saw this one?! This one was quite common. Right there with putting an Amethyst into a Gothic Plate to make it look like Tal Rasha's Guardianship!
I'm willing to accept other forms of currency. Like Tokens, Keys, Perfect Gems, and certain minor runes in lieu of my asking price. I'm also willing to accept rune combinations that add up to my asking price.
Nope. But I fell for the swapping an Anni for a Mephisto's Soulstone trick. -.-Knappogue wrote: 1 month agoYou never saw this one?! This one was quite common. Right there with putting an Amethyst into a Gothic Plate to make it look like Tal Rasha's Guardianship!

Just use the lobby all the time, with that probability of connection problems will be lower. I often drop items on the Ground, mostly if I transfer something between our chars, and few times I was disconnected, game crashed or PC froze. In that case I just opened game again and joined my game, items were still on the Ground.justinman114 wrote: 1 month agoIt's not even that necessarily, but what if the server goes down or a disconnect happens while it's on the Ground!? If someone wants to drop trade instead of normal trade ingame, youre being scammed. Its simple as that. That is how I see every single person trying to drop trade.
If you cant place everything into one trade window; make smaller trades through all you want. Never accept drop trade.
This is like the situation where someone got scammed through trade, double check everything, if you see anything flicker or move at all; double and even triple check everything.
In d2r you dont even need to trade items from one character to other using Ground trade anymore. It was disgusting way to get stuff to mules as you mightve lost everything just because of their (Blizzards) terrible services cut you off for no reason.
