Description

Testing around with a Fist of heavens build. What is everyone’s favorite weapon choice?

Hand of Blessed Light
Heart of the Oak
Heaven’s Light (tribrid build)
Or something else?

hoto build opens up so many other gear slot possibilities, but Hand of Blessed Light has solid skill boosts but no FCR.

Can be used to make Runewords:

Started with Spirit, went to Hoto when I was able to.
Combined with Spirit paladin shield for 44-45 all res is magnificent.

Due to cast rate, the pure FOH build is very similar to hammerdin. Hoto and Spirit in an auric shield with 40+ all res (Generally Sacred Targe, Sacred Rondache or Kurast Shield). If can't afford a hoto, a Crystal Sword Spirit or Wizardspike are excelent budget options.

Heart of the Oak works best for me, gives some nice res and fcr. without the 40% fcr from hoto, lets say I used Hand of Blessed Light, i wouldn't be able to reach the 125 breakpoint.

Any item on LADDER I am offering that is worth less than Ist, I would happily take runes like Io, Ko, Fal or Lem(depending on which is most appropriate for the price of the item)

NOTE: PLAYING LADDER, NL TRADES MAY BE DELAYED

I am currently trying the Hand of Blessed Light set up, and still able to hit the 125BP. 25 griffon’s eye, 20 Arachnid Mesh, 10 ring, 35 shield, 20 Trang gloves and 15 crafted amulet.

Tbh it’s not noticeably better than Hoto other than resistances. Performs about the same and with Insight in merc, mana isn’t a problem. Will prob end up going back to HOTO for resistances but no rush since survivability isn’t a problem

For my foh i use astreon ironward. Best all around because i also put 1 pt into Smite and some in fanat auras, as i dont use Conviction since my foh does mostly dmg to demons/undead, no pts into lightning dmg. Using Enigma to get around, this build seems to be holding up really well in terms of mobility n kill speed

Can trade on PC or SWITCH

Right, forgot Griffon's Eye existed lol

Just thought of something, if I wear a Dream shield and/or Helm, does it add to my already existing allocated Holy Shock skill points? Or does it take the greater of the two?

The 15 points of Holy Shock from Dream doesn't stack with the points of Holy Shock coming from skill tree. But two pieces of Dream grants 30 points to Holy Shock by stacking 15 points from Dream shield and Dream Helm.

The whole Holy Shock is a "scam". Dont fall for it. FOH should not Concentrate on the Holy Shock, it just lacks the dmg and is much more optimal other ways around. FOH + its synergies is enough with aura that reduces resistances.
Downside with FOH is that it can only farm / play in areas with demons and is a lot slower in other content. This was the only reason why I changed back to hammerdin, especially now with the Enigma at use. Love to rush people = FOH has trouble doing it.

Dont use Conviction with it, the real damage from FoH is almost solely from holy Bolts(works on demons and undeads even those immune to magic as long they are demons or undeads), and you cant lower magic resistances with talents, my pala is FoH + smiter, and i have almost maxed out Smite + fana skipping all the Holy Shock / Conviction, that only adds to the initial Lightning Strike and does nothing for holy Bolts at all, single target a boss? use single Holy Bolt, its only neglible slower than if you use Fist of heavens on a boss with Conviction

Also you dont really need more than 75% cast for FoH imho

My pala can do ubers with this build.

Okay thanks for the advice. What aura are you using as your main? Also merc?

Redemption is a better choice IMO, it restores your own life & mana from corpses. Just keep in mind it consumes the corpses which prevent them being used for other purposes by party members (if you're playing in a party), like Corpse Explosion or Find Item.

If you need more all res just use 1 point Salvation, i have 1 point in Salvation on 1 of my pala's

if not and you want to use same setup as me use Fanaticism and merc act2 Holy Freeze with Insight

I have more than 1 Foh / smiter pala old ladder chars, on 1 i use the act5 Frenzy barb merc for fun, and drink a mana pot here and there, sometimes that merc survives an Uber run, merc is using Grief + Last Wish and Fortitude or CoH forgot what hat he have.

Cheap merc act2 Holy Freeze with Insight does the job just fine for farming.

Ive personally NEVER had a situation where id felt like that aura is useful... All res is so easily gone past 75 even on Hell with paladins.

+1 for Redemption it's very nice for FOH

I had use for Salvation (it adds a ton of all res for just 1 point used) early ladder vs uber meph, it is also very nice for farming CS with less res gear, i never needed Redemption, use a health pot pick 1 up of from all the loot on Ground is easy, it is really nice to have more than max res vs curses.

This is the good thing about the FOH build. You don't need an aura, so you can choose whatever you want. I went with a single point of Redemption and then I switch to Cleansing or Salvation when the situation demands. All Defensive auras work well with a single skill point.

That gives you a bit of flexibility to try out other things. I personally went with max Fanaticism and Holy Shield so I can deal with bosses and beasts more easily (playing HC here, so max Holy Shield is a no brainer).

Having Fanaticism maxed out greatly improves your Act 2 merc. Stick a Treachery armor and some life leech gear, and he will be attacking like a maniac when you have your Fanaticism aura on.

You dont use Redemption for hp in most cases. Its for mana.
