I never use a might merc on a sorceress. I either use Holy Freeze or Prayer, because the Sorceress does so much damage, the merc has two jobs: Tanking enemies and either lower resistances (CL/Lighting/Fire) or recover life/mana (Blizz/FO/ Nova).

Nah, it's one of the best merc setups available for many caster classes. Mummy or Giant Spider poison is a nightmare. It will drop your life to 0 really fast.
Amp is dangerous if you unintentionally Teleport in an enemies group while cursed.
I personally use Frenzy Act 5 barb with Arreat's Face, Fortitude, Plague and Grief.
Really safe, doing nice damage to kill immunized and can tank.
Plus, it casts Lower Resist.
Edit : Insight is useless if you don't go ES. You have enough manage regen with Magefist and 1 point in Warmth so you can perma-tele without taking care about your mana.

Forti is more for 300% ed than the resistant because Arreat's Face gives 30 all res.
As DasNarf said, you have to use Cure + Insight + Prayer aura merc to be effective.
Cleansing + Meditation synergy with Prayer to increase the heal.

Teleport is a cheap skill, it's not even worth mentioning.
I did try that. Still didnt feel like it was worth enough as there were better options. But then again I dont play sorc, its so darn boring after grinding with it so much in original d2. The ED just helps increase the life leech. If you need your merc for damage, you are doing it wrong!
The high armor, Chilling Armor and resistances (especially that +5% max light res!) is what makes this runeword so interesting. A merc with 4K life (Call To Arms), maxed res and 15k defense is a formidable tank. Add some LL or Prayer/Insight/Cure and this guy can tank like a god.

18k Fireball damage, 33K Meteor damage, 18x 5k Hydra damage (all at once!) is a lot.

Mightve explained it badly, I dont care for Meteor. I dont care fore Fireball. I care for Hydra. 5k Hydra dmg sure looks nice, but once you add all the resistances to fire and immunities and all of a sudden it no longer is so great.DasNarf wrote: 4 months agoNah.

18k Fireball damage, 33K Meteor damage, 5k Hydra damage (all at once!) is a lot.
Sure d2r has the baby-mode gameplay now due to the sunder charms making immunities a joke these days but you still need to find said charm(s) and preferably in good stats. Im just not interested in sorc gameplay anymore as its so boring and nothing fun in it after playing so much of it. The only thing I hated that didnt work back in the day was the hydras as I loved the Hydra and idea of using them.
Might at some point try sorc again, most likely not any time soon as I play one character when ever I happen to play. I dont usually play every season and when I do play, I dont play much overall so its hard to get any high end gear which you most likely would tell me to get if I had Hydra sorc.

Should be. But I would go for 2x Spirit and Obedience on swap to fight immunes.
+4 to all skills and a lot of FCR is too good to pass on.
