So been looking at the various barb builds on here and in youtube with the majority being either throw, ww or Frenzy.... is a jumping barb viable? max out the normal skills (weapon, shouts and so on), but use Leap Attack as your main attack.... maybe a point or 2 in WW as a backup. ATM my WW barb only has 2 points in LA, but ATM it's doing more damage than WW.....
Can be used to make Runewords:

I doubt using jump attack only would be absolutely terrible idea, but it could work for sure. I mean, Leap Attack is single target as far as im aware making it slow to progress through.

The Barbarian now deals extra physical damage to surrounding enemies within a range of 4.6 yards when landing from a
Leap Attack. Damage scales per level – increased scaling compared to the PTR implementation
My timezone is CET/UTC+1.
Oh thats awesome, then Id imagine it is definitely possible and do-able.Tornado_OLO wrote: 6 months agoSince 2.4 :Semirotta wrote: 6 months agoLeap Attack is single target as far as im aware making it slow to progress through.

What lvl is your Whirlwind? It starts off doing reduced damage until you can pump the skill points higher.Chalk6ix_NZ wrote: 6 months agoSo been looking at the various barb builds on here and in youtube with the majority being either throw, ww or Frenzy.... is a jumping barb viable? max out the normal skills (weapon, shouts and so on), but use Leap Attack as your main attack.... maybe a point or 2 in WW as a backup. Also once you hit the ias breakpoint ww hits like 6 times a second.
Currently playing SSF Offline only
93 Javazon - 91 blizz/orb sorc
91 Dragon Tail assassin - 72 and growing FOHdin

About the "6 times a second" use this site speed calculator attackspeed.php
(https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner do not calculate correctly the attacks for Whirlwind and Strafe

You get Whirlwind to "4 fpa", or 4 frames per attack. Game runs at 25fps from what i understand. Which is where the ~6 attacks per second comes from at the proper ias.

(I wasn't doubting the "6 attacks per second"
, I was just advising against using some calculators as they have known issues with Whirlwind)
They made it viable looking but dmg still falls of significantly on Hell. I think MrLlama did a playthrough with it, you might want to check it out (IIRC he said that it's doable but wouldn't recommend as off-meta).
I also think they "fixed" it then re-balanced it again so it's not that great as it may seem (but I haven't tried that one yet)...

Someone much smarter than me already said once: "The real value of something doesn't reflect in a number of how much a seller can ask for it, but on how much a buyer is willing to pay."
Leap Attack is a great alternative for solo-leveling or NM farm.
He still do aoe damage (less damage than War Cry) but only 10 mana vs 30 mana of War Cry at level 25-30.
And he do also single target, 1000% ed at lvl 20 and weapon mastery.

pm me here (d2. Io) for trade
OP
My WW is fairly low (but will get maxed out as i'm retrying a WW barb. Will max it eventually)Spectie wrote: 6 months agoWhat lvl is your Whirlwind? I completed the game with a SSF hardcore Leaper barb. (shared self found with 1 of each class, no sunder charms allowed)
Tromz-X got over the line, the other nine died an early dead. (no deaths in hell)
I was using Pierre Tombale Couant as my main weapon for Leap Attack.
Levelling is more enjoyable, as the AOE helps with Fallen and others.
And being able to take out a shaman asap feels good too.
But Hell, certainly act II onwards, was a hybrid Leap Attack/ Berserk. And slow.
Can't say I would recommend this as a really fun build. But it is doable, even with ok-ish gear.
I had most fun with the druid, Fire claw / Maul hybrid
