What did you find before your first high rune?

I just found my first high rune, a

Sur while farming

Nihlathak for keys. While celebrating this fine, I got to thinking, what noteworthy items did I find before finding my first high rune? Playing online, so no /players 7 for me, most of the time has been spent playing single player, but sometimes more when friends join me.

Well, for starters I farmed at least 9 3x3 keysets (and sold all of them for high runes). As you can guess, that’s a few Countess, Summoner and

Nihlathak runs.

I farmed enough

Perfect Gems that I have sold over 300 of them for runes (thanks @retepnap )

Several Ists worth of low runes (

Ral etc that I have sold for

Ist)

Enough Essences for 5 tokens (well, I bought the Meph essences, a a rate of 5 Blue or Red per Yellow. I still have lots of Blue essences)

I found a 20/20/8

Annihilus

I found all of Aldur's Watchtower (twice over). Along with almost completing most of the other elite sets.

Pretty sure I found literally every unique amulet, including a perfect Maras.

Both Bul Kathos swords (both dropped in the same TZ

Andariel run, even)

Eschuta's Temper (only 2 to skills each time though)

Gheed's Fortune's (TZ farming has been very productive for these)

1 Lightning and 2 Poison rainbow facets

And of course massive piles of other items, many of which have been cause for minor celebration on their own as they have progressed various characters towards desired end game gear. So, how long did it take/ what did you find before your first high rune? Or were you lucky, and the first

My first D2R high rune drop was

Ohm in the

Halls of Vaught on July 3, 2022, which was just shy of two months after I got the game. Before that, I didn't find much that was noteworthy in terms of Holy Grail tracking. It was mostly trade fodder and the best of it was as follows:

I got lucky. I found my first high rune in D2R two weeks in. It was a

Jah in non-TZ P1 cows.

2 Weeks? Damn, took me near enough 4 months

Very shortly after that

Jah I found a fire skiller with 34 life. Traded it for a

Ber. Made an Enigma for my hdin with that

Jah and

Ber. Game totally opened up for me. I could actually farm effectively after that. That hdin still uses that Enigma to this day - he never won't use it.

Before I found my first high rune, I found a low rune.

Don't worry, the best rune I ever found is

Ohm - once solo, once with my two buddies. Does not prevent the value of my various chars (5 ended the game by now) to be worth more than 40

I do not remember finding something noteworthy before my first hig rune. While playing through hell for the first time (we initially played only selffound) with my sons we dropped a

Sur in act 2 in the desert by a random monster.

It wasn't even that bad, a couple of weeks I think. RNG can be weird sometimes

That's a heck of a lot to find. Before I found

Vex I found a Grandfather but over the past (almost) 20 years I've been lucky. I played on Pure Dream which had a bot detector so that levelled myself off with the cheaters. I still think that when servers have low online player rates the drops tend to be lucky. Do everything you can to make it fun and stack the deck.

I miss Pure Dream. They still have that script which Blizzard can't or doesn't want to get around to making and implementing to stop botters. As long as I find what I need I'm happy. Yeah so good luck on your next rune!

It took a really long time for my first HR.

I got my holy grail to
uniques 45.5 %
sets 83.5 %
probably even more, I started tracking only recently...

Most notably, I got before my first HR drop:
- perf. torch
- at least 5

Raven Frost rings (incl. a near perfect one) - never got a SoJ though... -.-
- several titan's revenges, incl. 2

My first HR was a

Cham, dropped by Meph in TZ 96.

I can't really remember that well.
I know i got a

Gul after playing a long while back with original LoD.
But then i spent years not finding anything higher than

Pul.

Sadly my first SSF high rune was a

Vex . But before I found that I found SOJ,

Shako, Nasferatu's

Belt, and a couple of

Ormus' Robes. I've had shit luck when it comes to HRs. I usually buy what I need from farming stuff to buy ists.
