What should I do with this eth 5os 'zerker Axe? (other than sell it)

I found this and cubed 5 sockets into it. Was thinking of maybe making a Death, but I'm not even sure what I'd use it for. I am planning on building a Smiter Paladin eventually, and I have a Summoner Druid that I whack things in bear form with. Not sure if either of these characters are worth using a Death on. Most/all of my other current characters would not benefit from it. Drop me some suggestions on what I could do with this (doesn't even have to be Death, and I'd even be open to using it on an A5 merc if viable). Thanks!

This is super rare and considered the best base for Death. Congrats! Death is one of the best weapons on a

Zeal pally, and would also work well for

Smite, although it is kind of a slow base for

Smite

I've also used it offhand on a

Whirlwind build with Oath or Breath of the Dying on the main main hand. It would be very good for Fury druid, but not the min/max best base for that build.

Unfortunately, act 5 mercs can't use axes

Interesting, the a5 merc was an oversight, I admittedly haven't tried messing with one in many many years!

I assumed Grief would just outclass almost anything at this point, but I want to experiment with other weapons too, so this is good info. I think the only other thing I could viably put in this would be Eternity, and that seems like a more expensive yet weaker weapon overall. Seems like Death is the way to go and I can just experiment with it.

I always forget about Eternity. I don't think it's such a bad runeword--certainly more defensive than offensive, but also definitely not cost effective.

Yeah there are several things you can do with Death. Among reasonably obtainable weapons, for pvm

Zeal it is second only to Grief for overall damage. But it has some advantages over Grief, like hitting 100% crushing blow with gface and gore riders. Zerker axes also have the same range as 2-handed swords, which is sometimes nice. And your character doesn't have a toy sword, always nice

Really excited for you--that's a rare find with a lot of potential. I've only found two in 3 years of D2R: one in regular D2R, and one in a mod that allows axes and other weapons on act 5 mercs

I guess I really took a chance using the cube to socket this because I did consider just selling as is, or even

Larzuk for the guaranteed 6. But I do know they are valuable and I figured I might want to keep my first (only?) one for self-use and having some fun with it!

I probably will eventually, but for now I'll mess with it as is.

I play my zealer solo with an even worse roll. Works like a charm!
