Can be used to make Runewords:
Have u try switching act and vendor within the same game? Or exit gameroom and make a new game room n try again?
I assume haivng max Gold on ur char inventory shouldnt prevent this either.. excess Gold probably would drop on thr Ground if sold to vendor?
If it still fails after trying the above methods, most likely a glitch…

aw, it got sold after game restart...hoped I have found some collectors glitched item :´)

it has happened to me 2 times, creating new game solved it both times,i think i remember vaguely that i did something with the item but forgot precisely what before it became unsellable, or maybe im just dreaming that i did something with it.
just a guess of what might have happened, not online to test it (maybe shiftclicking it as if to equip it and it wont equip because it cant on that class, and it bugs out and vendor wont take it )

Answer is simple: your vendor walked away from you.
If the distance between the character and the vendor becomes too big while the trade window is open, this happens.
Happens to me sometimes with Malah in Act 5 when you engage her and she buggers off back into her house.
