I've noticed some characters regardless of the type have these 2 flamy worms going around a character body upwards. What do they signify?

That character was muted (squelched).
Ahh, right! Must have forgotten I did mute 'em.
Edit: Seems like I spent a few minutes the other day "taking care" of the restless spammers. The good thing is, it takes way less time for me to ignore them than for them to create those nonsense accounts, not to mention the game license investment.
