Breath of the Dying was (and remains) one of the best melee weapon choices available. Awesome damage, great speed, rich dual leech, strong +30 to all stats and reduced req on top of that result in mighty melee option for either your character or your mercenary.

Because this RW works for all 6 socketed weapons, it can be built into missile weapons as well, but it is widely considered by most players as a waste since bows/xbows cannot be ethereal and it cannot take advantage of the Indestructible stat. BoTD is often reserved to be made into Eth weapons for this very purpose.
