Description

Enchants an arrow that does fire damage, and explodes into a patch of fire on the ground. Creatures passing through the flames take additional damage.

Casting Delay: 0.6 seconds

Enchants an arrow or bolt by adding explosive fire damage to it and increasing its Attack Rating. Fire damage is added to the projectile's damage. Upon impact with any target or surface, the projectile explodes across 2.6 yard radius - enough to strike several monsters in a tight cluster - dealing the projectile's full fire damage to every foe in the area. Persistent flames will then be applied to floor all tiles in the affected area, dealing damage to any foe located on that tile each frame for 99 frames, or approximately 4 seconds.

Consistent with the description above,
Arrows
and
Bolts
that benefit from other sources of fire damage - be it from a
Ruby
,
Ral
,
Enchant
, or
Holy Fire
- will pass that damage along to the explosion caused by this skill.

This skill is somewhat similar to the Sorceress' Firewall. If you can keep a monster in the same place (by attacking your
Decoy
or
Valkyrie
), you may find this skill to be useful. This might be an option when facing Stone Skin Unique Monsters as well.

The
Pierce
skill and Piercing Attack attribute can allow this skill to generate multiple explosions with a single arrow. This can be devastating to tightly-packed groups of targets. Although the skill's initial explosion does not require this skill to pass the projectile's To-Hit check, a projectile can only
Pierce
if the To-Hit check is successful. When the To-Hit check is unsuccessful, the projectile will appear to continue travelling and causing additional explosions, but these "phantom" explosions, and the projectile itself, will deal no damage.

Lore

Hefaetrus will sometimes bestow this ability to his greatest champions.

These fire-instilled arrows burn with such a fierce intensity that the very earth surrounding where they impact ignites into flame.

Although the fires last but a few moments, some say the effect is as if the pillars of the mighty kingdom of Hefaetrus were reaching up through the ground to strike down the enemies who linger nearby.

If you are playing in Resurrected mode, this ability's projectiles provide a small radius of light, illuminating the dark slightly.
