Description

Always found guarding the treasure chest which contains the
Staff of Kings, one of two items needed to progress Act II's plot. Coldworm neither moves nor uses direct attacks. Instead, she spawns new maggots which in turn spawn maggot eggs, flooding her room with enemies.

If you do not wish to deal with her
Swarm of maggots, you are free to ignore her spawns, open the chest, grab the
Staff of Kings, and portal home.

This superunique is the only monster in the game using the
Sand Maggot Queen type. The game files contain other maggot queens (Rock Worm, Devourer, Giant Lamprey, Blood Maggot), but they are not used.

While not "Poison Enchanted" like
Achmel the Cursed, Coldworm's
Frost Nova on Death will apply a potent and long-lasting poison to any player character, minion, or follower caught in its radius.
