Description

Yesterday I tried to run Ubers with my Foher (I didnt even swap gear to dmg - I was geared for MF) with my friend who was smiter (kinda under geared). It was a the most messy ubers I have ever done. I had to run Conviction against Mephisto and then swapping between might aura to boost his dmg and Salvation to help with his resists. Basicly I was just healing him. And my Smite with HoZ was unplayable due to slow IAS and not wearing Grief.

My expectations were I would do decent amount of dmg with Holy Bolt (lvl 41 6,1-6,9k dmg) but reality was my dmg was really low - dunno if it was because of they had so much hp or they have resists. And they kept charging at me instead on my friend. I was teleporting like crazy.

My questions:
Are ubers resitant to Holy Bolt dmg? Are they even considered as demons or undead?

Why did they targeted me? And not my friend who was smiting them? I was higher lvl (maybe that was the reason?)

Conclusion: MF Foher aint uberkiller :D

they are demons (so enhanced damage against demons applies) but they have huge life pool, so if you don t have decent crushing blow you don't scratch em, and no, foher ain't no uber killer, and they targeted you because they hate fohers and they like smiters, or at least that's what Mephisto said to me yesterday

Grab a Heaven's Light with two shaels and with 1 point Smite and 1 point Fana and your Fohdin becomes a Uber Killer :)

They all have 75% Magic resist so you damage is divided by 4.
They have 15k life gene per sec.
Your 25% * 6k Holy Bolt is not enough.

Besides you need open wounds or poison to stop their super life regen.

It does. Though Heaven's Light isn't ideal for that imo (due to only hitting 8 frames base, even with 2x Shael and a lack of OW).

You really don't need much actual smiter gear (or skills) to take down ubers/dclone. Hammerdins/FOHdins with a minimum of Smite capability are perfectly capable of handling them by themselves.

What you really want/"need" is simply:
- Lifetap (so you don't need to pot..unless you like potting in which case lifetap is optional)
- Some sort of crushing blow as an easy source of massive dmg
- Open wounds to stop their regen
- Enough res to live through meph
- Ideally at least 7 frame base Smite for crushing/tap procs

You can achieve all of that with a simple weapon swap to Kingslayer + Exile. That way, you can stay in literally full FoH gear without ever swapping anything and just shift over to 2-piece Smite when needed. All you drop for it is CTA which - let's be honest - a pally really doesn't need. They're plenty tanky as is. Or just keep it as switch gear if you don't mind changing stuff along the way.
Add in Gore Rider for extra crushing at no real stat loss on the FoH side to round it off. (Yes, yes, Goblin Toe adds more but f that lack of run speed)

A Kingslayer phase gives you a 7-frame base Smite which is plenty to handle meph with a measly 1 pt in Smite. Add 1 pt in Fanaticism to drop to 6fps against everything else (1pt in Salvation for meph to cover your res needs) and you're set. As a FoH-din you should have plenty of skill points left to Cap Holy Shield on top of that, adding some dmg to your smiting besides the crushing.

(Some sort of anti-freeze would be nice though, if you don't already have a Cham in your FoH head. Raven on switch covers that)

Hmm, I did a quick d2planner setup (because I think the frames I reach with my setup are quite good) and with Heaven's Light with two shaels + Fana lvl 16 (1 hard point) it shows 6 frames (https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/kq0106ci). I am missing something?

I chose Heaven's Light mainly because of +3 pala skills, fast attack speed and 33% CB and I actually didn't switch gear between my normal play and Ubers (except for Magefist). Of course after some time I got Enigma and for the fast tele I added arachs + HoTo (but that is another topic). And my initial setup was quite cheap.

Nope, you're not. I was talking about the base speed (i.e. without fana) so you don't have to specifically gear for even more res against meph. Being able to just go for 1pt Salvation against him (or conv as a FoHdin) makes him a lot easier/means you don't need any extra res gear but dropping to 8 frames doing so certainly isn't ideal.

i don't think you understand the value of experience... :p i estimate that if and when i actually get to ubers, i will probably get corpse guarded and have to find all 9 keys all over again

I got it :) I just don't mind adding some more charms I guess and back then I was seeking for a all in one solution for convenience. But anyway, plenty of options here :)

Fair point.

You can always ask for help here, in case you do get smacked around by them. Or even beforehand as a contingency, to be safe. There's plenty of folks happy to help for free (myself included if I'm available at the time). No need to just lose the keys.

actually before I buffed my pala with charms and respect myself into more vitality (I dont have max block). With CtA I had around 2k hp. It was all OK until Lilith one shot me - odds are low. But she did. One hit.
