Description

Like
Azurewrath
, Lawbringer grants the
Sanctuary Aura
, which allows its user to completely bypass the physical resistances of nearby undead foes. Additionally, it has a chance to cast
Decrepify
, somewhat compensating for its lack of added physical damage.

Both of these features make this weapon better suited as a swap item for situations that require it, or commonly equipped on Barbarian hirelings for combat support.

This is one of only 3 items that provide the 'Slain Monsters Rest in Peace' mod — the others are
Nature's Peace
and
Tyrael's Might
.

The 'Slain Monsters Rest in Peace' mod is particularly useful against monsters that rely on corpses. This is especially true for
Nihlathak
, because of his very dangerous
Corpse Explosion
ability.
7
Useful with an A5 mercenary on a Windy Druid, as
Decrepify
will lower enemies Physical Resistances, allowing your
Tornado
to deal more damage.

It is the best defensive option for a
Frenzy
barb other than Last Wish (and even then Lawbringer is still a damn good option).

Sanctuary Aura
makes you ignore physical res of undead monsters, which they all have 50% (somebody check me on this, it might be 25%) physical resistance. It means that you double your damage to Doom knights, ghosts, pretty much anything that is hard for physical characters to kill.

Decrepify
is also amazing for bosses and champions/elites. Reduces the damage you take as well as drop physical res of non undead and non physical immunes by 50%, aka doubling your raw physical damage.

Yeah physical damage on Lawbringer sucks but you don’t need any physical damage on it as long as you have a decently weapon like Oath and the elemental damage on Lawbringer is a nice bit of added damage.

Also breaking leech immunity on undeads is huge.

Downside of Lawbringer is the rest in peace mod which will prevent horking when delivering the final blow (~15% less horking or so).

Phase Blade
is the best base.
7
In a
Phase Blade
base it is particularly good for a Kicksin or maybe even a pure Martial Arts Assassin.

Decrepify
combined with
Dragon Talon
and the
Sanctuary Aura
make you an undead annihilator.

Note though that
Fists of Fire
,
Claws of Thunder
, and
Blades of Ice
cannot be used with non-claw class weapons; limiting a Martial Arts Assassin to
Tiger Strike
,
Cobra Strike
, and
Phoenix Strike
.

I've been having some fun running two of these on an Act V merc supporting a
Frenzy
barbarian, particularly for
Chaos Sanctuary
runs. The proliferation of undead means the huge boost to damage from Sanctuary (~1000%) largely mitigates the lack of enhanced damage, and
Decrepify
triggers fairly frequently. One of my favorite runewords for the low cost!

A slvl 15
Decrepify
has the following effects:
Targets' Speed, Damage and Physical Resistance -50%
Radius (yards): 4
Duration (seconds): 12.4

A slvl 16
Sanctuary Aura
has the following effects:
Pulse Radius (yards): 13.3
Magic Damage Min: 68
Magic Damage Max: 168
+600% Damage to Undead (Caster only)

A slvl 18
Sanctuary Aura
has the following effects:
Pulse Radius (yards): 14.6
Magic Damage Min: 78
Magic Damage Max: 192
+660% Damage to Undead (Caster only)
7
Lawbringer + Grief is by far one of the best combos for a
Frenzy
barb when running CS or WST.
7
Possibly the best solution for the
Blade Fury
Assassin,
Bone Break
+
Decrepify
will allow you to destroy any enemies. -50% target's defense increases accuracy against
Blade Fury
