Since I started looking for specific magic items, I've come to realize that it isn't quite that easy, for 2 main reasons:
(1) User error. Magic pieces should be exceedingly easy to find because their naming follows a very simple structure. As such, users should simply be entering their item names. The truth is, a lot of users don't do that (possibly also due to translations otherwise becoming a problem as they may not know the exact English affix names). On the flip side, a surprising amount of folks enter the magic item name based on the 2 "main" attributes of a rare they're trying to sell. So as a result, when you search for a specific magic item, you often miss results of that item but you do get results of random rare items thrown in.
To circumvent the above, I started instead searching for the more important affixes (e.g. text search for "fcr" and similar).
This however then lead to reason (2) as it naturally includes ALL items that fit that. Which, even if you limit it to be as specific as possible, sometimes yields pages upon pages of results, most of which are not applicable. The reason is simply that it now includes magic, rare, crafted, unique and all sorts of items for which folks may list out those or similar stats.
I tried a simple -crafted but that seems to only affect possible mention of the word, not the tag itself.
What would help (massively) to filter this would be the ability to "double-tap" a tag in the search filters to turn it into a "not" tag. I.e. if I click "crafted", it is selected and I find crafted items (as it is now) but if I click it a 2nd time, I only get items that are NOT flagged as crafted. 3rd click would then de-select it again entirely.

I was able however to introduce 'non-' filters for common use cases like Non-Ladder, Softcore (Not Hardcore), Non-Superior, Non-Ethereal, and No (0) Sockets, so marking this fulfilled, even if only partially.
