If you're using Harlequin Crest you're looking for MF, so it would make more sense to socket it with a pure Topaz.
If you're using Griffon's Eye you're looking for damage and lower resists so rainbow facet makes more sense.
It all depends what character you are playing, what your are doing with it. MFing? Cows? something else?
You always want to strike the right balance between dps/survivability/mf based on what you're doing. Griffon is a really good (and rare) dmg boost but if you're looking to farm Meph or Pindle you're better off with the Harlequin Crest.
Also remember you can always clean up your item from anything you socketed with Recipe: Remove All Items from Sockets so it's not like you're making a final decision (though cleaning up a perfect facet would kinda hurt i guess)
I found a good griffins so I made a javazon... But I just use ptopaz Shako. Any area I farm as long as there's decent pack density they just melt in 1 shot so I don't see the purpose of griffs when I could just crank up my MF and not hurt my clear speed.

P8 Cows. You dont want mf for farming bases and runes and you want to clear as fast as possible. But I guess it's a bit of an extreme case

Yeah Javazons on P8 cows is insane. I’d be there spamming hammers and they throw one Lightning Fury and everything dies. It’s absurd.
