Description

What you guys( and you are guys) usually go for gear?
I know “it depends” on the gear you got. But now that there’s trade you can select your gear if you got the dough, until end game.

Any guide out there that centralise this?

Quick Guide To Get Spirit Sword & Shield
-Spirit (Tal + Thul + Ort + Amn) in a Sword and Shield can be extremely effective for any caster class, the sword being the best starting item.
-When trying to use Larzuk Socket quest (A5) or Horadric Cube you have to use the correct item level of Crystal Sword / broad sword or you'll either get too few sockets or too many. This guide will show you the safe spots to find a sword with 4os or make 4 sockets.

Finding Runes for Spirit:
Tal & Ort: Awarded for A5 Quest 2. (free the barbs)
Thul & Amn: Countess (NM)

Cube Recipes:
3 Ith = Tal
3 Ral = Ort
3 Ort = Thul
3 Thul + Chipped Topaz = Amn

Finding 4 socket Crystal/Broad Sword Bases:
-Pick up any White & Grey (superior) Crystal/Broad Swords you see in these areas to socket them with Larzuk Quest or Cube.
-Use the Horadric Cube on White bases only: (Ral + Amn + Perfect Amethyst) (WARNING: has a 50% chance at 4os)

Best Place To Find Both Swords:
1. Secret Cow Level (N): Best & Fastest area to farm
2. City of The Damned in A4 (N)
Crystal Sword:
1. ^ & Most Mob drops in A5 (N), BUT make sure monster level is not higher than 40: AmazonBasin Mob Info
Broad Sword:
1. Any mob from A5 Normal except Bloody Foothills & Frigid Highlands
2. Any Mob Nightmare through Hell

Finding 4 socket Monarch Shield for Spirit:
-lvl 54 required, Strength 156
1. Secret Cow Level (H): best area to farm
2. Any mob in Hell but only in Hell.
note: for Paladins you can find 4os paladin-only shields that are usable at lvl 25.

goodluck, and may the RNG god be with you.

Not sure if I understand your question. Are you asking if people buy gear for mid game? At this point I've played through so many times that I'd rather just hell Chaos at lvl1 and wear what I need.
7
what I do is pick a build I can enjoy and follow its guide. Start with budget build then upgrade your way to best in slots.

Normal through Nightmare i always use Sigon's Complete Steel, Angelic Raiment and/or Death's Disguise sets combined to benefit from multiple set bonuses. This works for every class and build. Super easy to get since you can buy them all with pgems and low runes. The set bonuses carry you through most of nightmare easily and even give a bunch of Magic Find. Always more enjoyable to see more uniques/sets/rares as you play through the game.

Shortly after D2R launch i actually made a trade game asking for sigons for pgems and 3 diff people joined and gave me the whole set for free lol.

For hell it is a bit trickier to answer specific gear because its so much harder than nightmare and will vary a lot more from build to build. What is your specific class/builds you are asking for?

thanks.
maybe i didn't formulated the question well.
for example there are many good pre-endgame gear.
for the barb you can get Azurewatch or guardsword i think it was her name. just before going Grief, if possible.

just wondering. but its a good idea to seek out build, but I don't think they give you much of pre-endgmae gear in those gears. just what you need to beat the game, instead of how to get there. there lots of good and bad choices you can do. and i was wondering if there is a guide that concentrates it all. you r low-gear to mid-gear, end-gear, and ultra etc.. according to class/build

goodluck, and may the RNG god be with you.

Awesome! thanks for the list.

Also don't forget the cheap and extremely easy to make runewords such as Stealth and Lore, Ancient's Pledge, Spirit (casters, builds who use shields, etc). For mercs, Insight and Obedience. For melee build based on phys dmg, there's Steel, Malice, and Honor, all very cheap and highly effective. Mid-game, depending on your build, you can craft RWs based on
Lem
,
Pul
, or
Um
runes, if you are lucky these may start dropping in NM. My first hellforge soulstone quest in NM dropped an
Um
rune for me. Stealth is so good for some builds, some people run this armor all the way to Hell difficulty. I'm still using it and Lore on one of my necros until I find/buy a Vipermagi/Skulders or get the endgame Nigma. Happy Hunting

Guardian Angel
and
Twitchthroe
are pretty nice on melee too. and Rhyme.

If you use
Medusa's Gaze
on a
Rabies
druid. would the slow effect spread with the
Rabies
too?

Why should that happen? The slow effect goes with the weapon and not the skill.

That would make skills like
Rabies
actually be somewhat usable lol. But unfortunately the effects from slow on gear only works on your physical hits, not any spells.
