Flawless Amethyst
Always keep a Flawless Amethyst handy. When you encounter a Gem Shrine, you can then upgrade it to a Perfect Amethyst, which is considered the most valuable of all gems.
You may want to have 2-3 of them hanging around in your stash.
I stick to 3. Having 3 Gem Shrines in a single game is not something that never happens and facing a situation where you are forced to upgrade a Ruby or, in worst case, a random gem is frustrating. Having 3 of them also guarantees a Perfect one if you desperately need it and Recipe: Ber is one of the highrune upgrade recipes that has real use.
