Does lower resist work on poison nova?

Ive been exclusively using amp damage for Corpse Explosion
I have Infinity on my merc and a Renewed Rotting Fissure

No Death's Web yet but should I be doing Lower Resist? Amp damage seems to be working fine on p5 but not sure why the build i found said to take Lower Resist

Lower Resist does reduce poison resistance, so it would be optimal to be cast before Poison Nova. It also works for the fire-part of Corpse Explosion, which does 50% fire and 50% physical.

If you want to optimize, against most enemies Amplify + CE is stronger than LR + CE. But I am just too lazy most of the time, so Lower Resist is my main curse.

You could also consider adding a fire sunder or physical sunder, if you focus on CE.

Lower Resist only works with poison if you curse the enemies before you apply poison on them. So if you cast Poison Nova first, then Lower Resist, you won’t see any effect from Lower Resist. You either need to cast Lower Resist first, or re-cast Poison Nova afterwards to see an effect.

You can always use Lower Resist first to get the first few kill(s) faster, then Amplify Damage for more Corpse Explosion physical damage? But Lower Resist actually also works with CE, since it lowers enemies’ fire resistance. Not as much as Amplify Damage, but still.

I bet lower resistance plus Conviction from Infinity will work fine for Corpse Explosion. I know Infinity doesnt do poison res.

On my online necro I never used it because I had Death's Web and only did p1 so stuff just fell over anyway.


I tried Bone Spear with all the new magic gear and its neat but man I did not like the play style

to your Lower Resist question, well it helps a lot, but even if you have higher skill level on Lower Resist, it wont work on few foes on terrorized zones, for example those poison immune giant bugs on canyon of magi or Skeleton archers while farming Key of Destruction...
without Rotting Fissure sunder charm, only merc, golem and possible few revives / summons could kill it....

i have no need for physical Bone Break and Flame Rift sunder charms... Rotting Fissure could help but only on those high lvl monsters

you know the drill, cast Lower Resist, cast Poison Nova, wait for 1st corpse and start popping them and everything within range will be gone soon

and for high lvl poison immune without sunder charm ? cast Amplify Damage so your followers could kill it faster and then start Corpse Explosion
