Hi,
I was wondering if someone could give me a summary of how the crafting economy works. From my side, I always collect a bunch of runes (e.g. Ral) or PGems (PA) and sell them as a package.
I assume that they are used by the people with a very high lvl char to make caster rings / amulets, but how can that be profitable? When I tried myself in crafting (did 100 caster rings on a lvl 95 char), I got nothing but crap.
So the ones which are actually good, must be really darn valuable, but these items must be rare, and there can't be too many people who are willing/able to pay these prices.
How do you make a profit with this?
Are there any other recipes that are commonly used besides caster jewelry?
Thanks in advance

All prices are negotiable.

You usually need hundreds of crafts to get something good. You just need lvl 93 for crafting to be viable (to get best possible mods on items).
Basically all Boots, gloves, belts, amulets, rings are worth crafting. Weapons, body armors, shields, helmets - not worth it (nothing really BiS can be crafted from those).
So far I spent about 30 Ist on crafting materials (pgems, jewels, low runes), got about ~45 Ist back from selling the good stuff (sold crafted Caster Amulet for Ber, some good Blood Boots for Sur, some minor crafts for several Ist, I also have some good Caster Boots that I think are worth at least Lo that I'm just using myself). So far so good I think. It is possible to craft items worth many many Ber though.
In general most people who craft a lot have similar experiences, so I think odds are in your favor, you just need to craft a lot.
You just need to know the game quite well before you start crafting, so you know what to look for and not overlook useful mods (because you can just throw away many good items if you don't know their value). Most people just know about 2/20 caster amulets so those are most common. For example Caster Boots can be gg for Zeal sorc or just any sorc that uses Energy Shield (because it can have +5% max mana), Safety Amulet has increased chance to block, so sometimes people use them to pack less points into dex and more into vita and still have max block. Blood Boots with 10-15 replenish life, 30 FRW and some other mods are reaaally good. I love Caster Belt with 10FCR/24FHR on elemental fire druid because he runs around with Phoenix and has no FHR from Spirit, etc.

Crafting, rerolling GC, buying Unid Torch.
I don't think they are profitable but fun. The same way as lottery.
You spend 1 dollar/day or 365 dollar/year to buy lottery ticket to finally win 100 or 200 dollars (400, 500 if you are really lucky)
1 dollar is nothing for many, the feeling to wait result each day and and the joy of winning lottery keep they buying

I disagree, I think there are many useful crafted items that have value, it’s just easy to overlook them. Usually I at least win back the runes I invested into crafting, so odds seem to be in favor of crafting.mockingbirdreal wrote: 2 years ago Crafting, rerolling GC, buying Unid Torch.

I would love to know for sure though if it’s just luck or if odds are actually in favor of crafting. I don’t know if someone tried to calculate that, but from anecdotal evidence seems so (most people earn more in the long run than they invested) There is a HUGE difference between taking a risk (odds in your favor and/or you can influence your luck) and gambling (odds against you). It’s like playing bridge vs playing roulette Yes, buying annis is a gamble, crafting I think not so much
I can prove that mathematically for rerolling GC and buying Unid Torch.louner wrote: 2 years ago I disagree, I think there are many useful crafted items that have value, it’s just easy to overlook them. For crafting, I don't find any input about the odds of getting +2skill, 10FCR so I can't say.
Personal experience is just nor enough since you have to craft really really many.

It depends on which side you are : if you are the casino (so Blizzard!) roulette is very worth it
Main: Necromancer / Second: Assassin / Third: Amazon / Check my stash, my crafts and my many cheap Annihilus
Yeah, for annis and GCs is easy to tell (although I think it's still ok to burn through pgems that are not useful for crafting like emeralds or diamonds if you have too many of them - that's how I see GC / Diadem recipes). You have 1:500 chance to get 20/20/10 Anni, so you would statistically have to spend 160 Ber to buy one (assuming Lo each) and then you can sell it for 10-15 Ber.mockingbirdreal wrote: 2 years ago I can prove that mathematically for rerolling GC and buying Unid Torch.

For crafting there are too many good options. Even if you craft Hit Power Gloves with just 20IAS you can resell them for Ist (which is enough to craft another 10 gloves) because it's automatically knockback + IAS, etc. Takes some time to sell, but it's possible and you can pretty much always keep going
Yes, others crafting receipt but Caster.louner wrote: 2 years ago Yeah, for annis and GCs is easy to tell (although I think it's still ok to burn through pgems that are not useful for crafting like emeralds or diamonds if you have too many of them - that's how I see GC / Diadem recipes), for crafting there are too many good options. The price of PAmmy is just too high for me.

Theoretically you can get >500ED with Blood Weapon. Imagine crafting 510 ED Blood Weapon with 40 IAS 2 OS (to put something like Lo Lo) and 13 life leech. Aiming specifically for that IS a gamble though.
Grief is just too good for any weapon to be better than it at the cost of Lo/ Sur rangelouner wrote: 2 years ago Theoretically you can get >500ED with Blood Weapon. If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man
You win some, lose some, all the same to me
The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is the Ace of Spades
The Ace of Spades
Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil
Going with the flow, it's all a game to me
Seven or eleven, snake eyes watching you
Double up or quit, double stake or split, the Ace of Spades
The Ace of Spades
You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools
But that's the way I like it baby
I don't wanna live for ever
And don't forget the joker!
Pushing up the ante, I know you gotta see me
Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again
I see it in your eyes, take one look and die
The only thing you see, you know it's gonna be the Ace of Spades
The Ace of Spades
Stand and fight
Live by your heart
Always one more try
I'm not afraid to die
Stand and fight
Say what you feel
Born with a heart of Steel

yo i craft only caster amulets from minimum half year. my best results was few times +2/fcr never with all res /mf. i must by my own crafted amulet |2/9fcr/14all res.
i gambled only coronets/amulets. part of amulets use for craft. i spend almost 40 Ist to buing gold (8mln for Ist) and gambled my own gold too. my results ? 1 cviber amulet 1x mahim amulet. one +2necro/20fcr Coronet (i give it for free to friend) 1x +2 pal/20fcr with some resistances i use it for while but buy better with higher res and mf. i spend hundreds of jewwels for rerolling two charms Baal and diablo. (in this week close to 200-250) my results ? from Baal martial arts +10life from diablo any results.
