why do i get bombarded with multiple notifications for this site when there is only a single on received? Its super annoying that a single notification blocks out a third of my screen.

Push notifications retired in 1.34.

TLDR; Couldn't fix it as original dev went AWOL. Was using a huge amount of server resources, only a handful of users actually using.

For a workaround, go to your notification settings and use email notifications. Your device probably generates push notifications for these.

It's a bug in the push notifications extension for phpbb, since it doesn't support push notifications natively. The dev who wrote the extension has been contacted but has yet to respond unfortunately. =\

For now I'd recommend disabling push notifications individually here for anything you don't absolutely need to know about immediately.
