1. Click on Register (anywhere) to get to the account register formular.
2. "Question if Battlenet or Singleplayer Character is missing."
3. Check account profile after registering.
4. BattleNet is set to "No (Singleplayer".

As you've found, it can be set later as a cosmetic field in the profile settings.
