Bear Enchantress - Questions on Equip

New ladder-only stats in 3.3

Description

Hi,

im thinking of making a funny sorc with Enchant (or other char?) since i have one Beast Berserk Axe unused in my stash.
Im trying to figure out, what are good options for helmet , armor and shield .

I tried some stuff out but im still quite unsure what to use with Beast (i tried to find out how much damage does Holy Fire aura with enchantress or if Holy Shock aura is better and how the potential damage stacks if the auras get doubled - and i did not come to an conclusion).

1.
Dream Helmet
Dream Shield
Dragon Armor
Beast Weapon

2.
Metamorphosis Helmet (for mark - im still kinda squishy imho - maybe dracul can help me instead)
Dragon Armor
Dragon Shield
Beast Weapon

3.
Metamorphosis Helmet
Dragon Armor
Dream Shield
Beast Weapon

4.
Delirium helmet / Flickering Flame helmet
(...)
(...)
Beast Weapon

5.
(...) ?

I would love to hear your suggestions what to use and why.
With "why" im mean any argument from damage potential, over survailbility to coolness factor with maximum auras or running as stygian etc.!
And if you have any new idea to me which character would be fun to play as bear i like to hear that too (is Auradin /Tesla Bear a thing too?).

I just want to make an unusal bear without being druid with funny runewords giving me unusual abilities for classes that dont have those skills.
I havent used any of these runewords above in all my diablo playtime, so i think it would be funny to put all my earned runes in this build before i end up not using them at all :)

Thanks!

Can be used to make Runewords:

going for lightning dmg seems counterintuitive with Enchant.. but i guess the skill points are available for both masteries

does Holy Shock outperform Holy Fire? and does Energy Shield work on this build?

I built one way back in the day d2r but pre-ladder.

Mine had dual Dream. didnt bother with Dragon as Enchant was way more fire damage anyway. I used Beast Axe on switch though and had Griswold's Redemption with 4 shaels as the weapon to get insane attack speed in wearbear form. But I think they nerf'd the IAS calculation since then so not sure if that's the best option anymore.

Didn't do that much farming in the end as it was still a melee build which was slower than casters. Was able to do the ubers though which was fun.

Good luck with your build.

I read that Holy Shock outperforms Holy Fire, especially when double aura.
In the end i just want to make also sure that i can go through every zone, no matter the immunities.
Last time i tried in offline mode with a premade char from d2planner at least in P1 i one/two shotted every normal mob, no matter the resistance.
Energy Shield works: You have your nice little bubble above your Werebear head.

Do you remember if ubers died to your elements, or was it through mostly Static Field and crushing blow?

hmmm, was a while back. I think I could kill all with elemental damage only. But one of the Tristram ubers was particularly slow. so throwing guillames and Goblin Toe on for them made it a fair bit quicker. It was possibly meph but don't really remember.

I seem to recall it was 30-40k elemental damage and about 4 frames atack speed so was a lot of damage...

Lightning outperforms fire because of 3 reasons:
- Holy Shock deals more damage in general when comparing same levels
- Aura has higher level: Lvl 30 vs lvl 28
- Sorc's Lightning Mastery has higher increase compared to Fire Mastery

So, go double Dream.

Enchant is so good because it double dips. It gets boosted by Fire Mastery and then Fire Mastery boosts the fire damage itself. It's also good to deal both lightning and fire damage, helps with immunes.

Playing HC SSF right now.

Hell completed: Sorc, Druid, Paladin, Ama, Assa, Necro, Barb
Iron Man (Paladin): Nightmare A1

guys, i did some numbers crunching on Dream vs Dragon, and in terms of raw dmg Dream seems to max out at 6.4k, while Dragon at 3.6k. but if you take into account -25 fire res from Flame Rift and Flickering Flame the margin will be much smaller, maybe 2.5k vs 2.2k. Plus you can invest into Fireball for Hydra synergy on Dragon (0.7k Hydra dmg), and get the Venom bonus (1k dps!)..

aura dmg is negligible in both cases

lvl 40 on all relevant skills is assumed in both cases, except lvl 35 on Fire Mastery in the Dream setup (not enough points to max out)

so in total it's not that obvious is it?

but what i wonder more at, is that the build is described as "terrifyingly powerful" and dealing "tens of thousands of dmg".. which is not the case at all based on the numbers?

It seems you're not taking masteries into account properly. Physical attacks (both melee and ranged) get the mastery bonus on top of the respective elemental damage added to your attack. I.e., Lightning Mastery boosts any lightning damage on your attacks, whether it comes from charms, equipment... or Dream's Holy Shock. An in fact, for Holy Shock and Holy Fire, the damage added to your attacks basically double-dips into the respective mastery (like Enchant does for Fire Mastery) - first once to determine how much fire/lightning damage the aura adds to your attacks, this is then summed with other sources of the same type of elemental damage from charms/gear, then it applies a second time when calculating actual attack damage.
  1. Level 30 Holy Shock without any synergies or other modifiers add 1-1668 damage to your attacks.
  2. Apply level 40 Lightning Mastery (+518%) once - the damage added to attacks is now 6-10308.
  3. Add any other sources of lightning damage from charms & gear (assuming none in this case).
  4. Apply level 40 Lightning Mastery (+518%) again - the damage added to attacks is now 37-63703.
(just a quick manual calculation)

aha, thanks, if the mastery bonus is squared, it's a different story. but my assumption on slvls was too high in case of Dream lightning + fire combo, more realistic will be lvl 38 light mastery, lvl 31 Enchant, lvl 26 Fire Mastery. in this case we land at mean 28k dmg per hit before res / ~11k after res.

in case of Dragon, lvl 40 is realistic, and we land at 14.5k before res / ~ 9k after res. plus Hydra (~0.7k per "spit" :)) and Venom (1k dps), plus fire dmg from double horazon's

so it's a close call between the two

but either way not super strong / prly not enough for ubers

Would love to try these things, but for all my time in diablo 2 and diablo 2 resurrected, Ive never had the runes to do any of this stuff. Honestly only way to get to try these is to either bot, pay for botters or just play 20 hours a day.
7
and as for life .. you maybe get 4k life / 2k mana after all buffs. bad res and high armor on Dragon, okayish or even good res on Dream. hence, my next sorc is classic enchantress, with optional Dragon fun variation

there was another once in a generation chance - get rich selling new rotw stuff to people who got rich by playing 20hrs per day or botting or paying to botters 🤭
7
..and if we forget the bear and add Hand of Justice...

fire melee dmg will be ~15k after resist at 10 frames

aura dmg 677 before res in 33 yards radius every 2 seconds, scaling up to double the amount in melee range? well not much but still will clear the screen on p1 in a few secs while you cut down the elites / kick urns?

is it the new inquisitor/purifier sorc build :D?

edit: will require either a Phase Blade and some 100 points dumped into dexterity, or a rogue with Fanaticism to max attack speed.. which isn't a terrible idea with nuclear exploding Arrows?

So just stop playing ladder if you don't have enought time.
Ladder is time consuming.
Stay in NL, do trades and in 2-3 months with 3h/day you can play what you want.

My timezone is CET/UTC+1.

The reason non ladder is not as much fun is the missing runewords for example. I never really understood the logic in that, but that is a thing unfortunately.

It will cease being a thing in 1 week :)
(there won't be any ladder-only rune words anymore after the new patch coming next Tuesday)

Oh darn! Thats awesome news! so ladder no longer is "special" with anything other than the chance of running being first 99 and what ever people run for? thats neado! I can then absolutely continue playing with nonladder chars.
Unfortunate timing though as I just got the diablo 4 expansions and as they are expensive af, Im gonna spend a lot of time in that for now until this season drops on it.

Not exactly. There won't be any ladder-only rune words, that's true, but they did make some adjutments to a few low-level uniques and set items, the adjusted versions are ladder-only.

The patch changes have been discussed in the ladder reset thread; forums/ladder-season-15-and-patch-3-3-t1850154.html
