Description
Zod dropped the other day and puzzling over what to do with it. This is just another case of the RNG Gods mocking me as I have also found many other super-rare items and high runes, and yet I cannot find either a Highlord's Wrath or a pair of Gore Rider Boots for my melee characters.
Anyway, a couple of ideas were:
1. Using the Eth Colossus Blade I have that rolled six sockets and pairing it with a Grandfather for style points (double colossus blades). That would be +50 to all attributes, and hopefully do decent damage. I have these in my possession, which is a big plus. I may never find some of the other potential bases. I am strictly self-found. Frenzy or Whirlwind?
2. Hang onto it and wait for a Great Poleaxe for playing WW Barb, Fury Druid, or using on Merc - versatility.
3. Hang onto it and wait for a Eth Berserker Axe for one-hand uses such as the Poison Nova proc melee Necromancer.
4. Hang onto it and wait for a Eth Tomb Reaver, Eth Reaper's Toll, or other super-rare Eth item?
5. I have an Eth Fleshripper, but the roll is not worthy of the Zod.
Anyway, I look forward to your comments and ideas. diablo2.io community is awesome!

Can be used to make Runewords:

My 2 cents
If you play Fury Druid
eth The Reaper's Toll, eth upped Ribcracker or Breath of the Dying eth Archon Staff / Great Poleaxe / Thunder Maul / Giant Thresher
I would not spend it with the Barbarian
And... I don't think Poison Nova proc melee Necromancer is a viable build...

My personal philosophy-
Zod runes tend not to be very expensive to buy, but they're the rarest to find. So, personally, I use any that I find in 'cool factor' projects and not for pure practicality.
For example, I personally have little interest in Zod-ing Eth uniques. It just doesn't appeal to me. If I want to/need to do so for some build, I'd always use a purchased Zod for it over a self-found one.
Instead, I'd use a self-found Zod for a BOTD or Obsession, inasmuch as its a thing now. Poison Nova proc necromancer sounds awful, but I'd be totally down for it as a use for self-found Zod .
You may think differently about what's cool and what's not. That's fine. My point is that I'd say take whatever idea seems the coolest and go with that over what's most useful and sell Perfect Gems to buy Zods for those other causes.
At the end of the day, it's a game, and if there's something that would be more fun to you than eeking out slightly more dps on an already fully functional build, why not?

My first Zod, I put it in a Eth Colossus Blade and paired with a Last Wish also in cb base.
But I dont like one Blade is Eth, the other one is normal. haha, maybe when I get another Zod, I make it two.
Your ideas are built towards melee. and many of the build you mentioned uses items that worth something like 50 or even 100 Zod, like a 3os, good roll Eth Tomb Reaver.
Mind you the other option is Obsession. It is also awesome.

Non-Ladder, Softcore. You may mix and match by rates below.
2 Hel ← 1 Festering Essence of Destruction
2 Hel ← 3 Perfect Amethyst
4 Hel ← 1 Ist

I would vote for Whirlwind with ebotd and edeath. You can either go with Eth Colossus Blade or Eth zerker Axe--I like the Axe setup better. Death can be in a few different bases depending on what you want/have. Zerker Axe can also be used on a Zeal build (if you share items between characters)
Two handed Whirlwind isn't as good since Whirlwind was nerfed, so it's more of a fun nostalgia thing, or for double use with a druid or a goldfind barb merc
Yeah you could find an Eth astreons the next time you play, or even a gg Obsession base, but the runeword route in a Larzuk-socketable Eth base is much more practical for self-found

Fury Druid with eBotD Thunder Maul slaps so hard.

What about getting yourself a Manic Pixie Dreamgirl?
I did build one and it's kinda neat: forums/manic-pixie-dreamgirl-an-alterna ... 65231.html

Make it in the biggest damage Eth two-hander you can find, and make a barb or druid around that. Thunder Maul, Archon Staff, or a Polearm or Spear.
I think Spears at not a "fast class weapon" for Druids

2-hand ww is capped at 5 frames, EXCEPT for a 2-hand sword. botd ww in a cb needs only 15 more ias to reach 4 frame attack. (this is my setup)
dual wield botd + grandfather will need lots of extra ias , for both ww and Frenzy to reach quickest frames

I think there's loads of potential uses right? For example I would love to try out an ethereal, perfectly rolled Rune Master. Still trying to find a darn Zod myself (SSF Offline).

I don't know if spears are much better for barbs either without looking it up, but you can use WW so it doesn't matter as much. The point is spears can get higher damage as two-handers.
(And I don't just mean the base Spear but whatever elite version has the best combination of damage and speed trade off.)
What I mean is that some weapon types are faster for some classes
For example for Druid Polearms, 2h-Axes, 2h-Mauls and Staffs are "faster weapons"
a Giant Thresher (base speed -10) is faster for a druid than a Mancatcher (base speed -20)
(with L1 Werewolf and L4 Fury: Skill you will do 3.38 hits per second and 2.91 hits per second respectively)

I'm aware, but thank you.
I just made an Oath in an Eth Colossus Sword the other day. It looks so frickin sick! Spooky blades ftw!
